So during a lockout are the Pens coaches not able to take informal workouts? if so then Dan Bylsma's son's team just got a big upgrade in the coach department.

I guess if the coaches are involved it becomes an "official" workout/practice...maybe? Molinari did make a it a point to mention that the guys there had their Pens practice jerseys on. He said a lot of the other teams took them back when the lockout started.

Per Yohe...Tanger said his hip is 100% and his skating was typically him. I know I saw pictures from APC of him working out. Insanity, just like last summer.

***EDIT***

It's from a Florida paper regarding the Panthers but it pretty much answers (to me) why the coaches can't be there.

Quote:
Because of the lockout, players aren't allowed to use the team's facilities and have to rent the ice used for the practices. The facility, which is run by the Panthers, is also renting out side locker rooms for players to shower and change in.

Kulikov apparently forgot a towel to use for his post-practice shower in a locker room across the ice from the Panthers' locker room door.

When someone asked a Panthers' staffer if they could borrow a towel for Kulikov, the answer was no. In a lockout, a team can offer no assistance to a player -- no matter how minimal the request.

Wouldn't be a bad idea

Did he get along with Bryzgalov in Anaheim?

The NHL Network will be airing things that 90% of hockey fans will have no interest in watching; because that's how NHL Network rolls except on game nights.

MMK has a YouTube channel, and some of them have English subtitles. Here's the first part of the presser with Geno and Gonchar ...

::EDIT:: Disclaimer ... The subtitles are more of a summary, and sometimes a little mangled, but gonna give them an 'A' for effort, anyway

Yeah, I probably should have added a disclaimer, but, it's better than nothing ... at least they're trying Should be 'promising', right?

I watched an after game interview, they have a translator for Maurice, and even with my limited Russian I could understand a lot that was left out or mangled

Geno's Russian isn't great btw. Very lower-class. Even though he's obviously a clever guy. Sarge's one is much better.

THanks for posting that! I didn't realize some Euro teams had joined. Makes the KHL a bit more of a threat to the NHL one would think (in terms of luring some players). Hopefully a bunch of these guys playing over there will give the owners some food for thought about consequences of lockouts beyond angry fans.

Trying to decide if I should ban you or merely give you a double infraction.

No problem Getting excited about watching the game tomorrow morning ...

As for Kshahdoo's comment ... I guess I took that another way. I didn't think it was meant to be insulting, more a comment on speaking styles to a non-native speaker ... that Sarge's Russian is easier to follow. Kind of like someone who grew up in a blue collar family speaks differently than someone who grew up white collar, or how someone from the rural south speaks differently from someone who grew up in LA. And your comment as half joking

2:00GMT So that'd be 10:0AM EST or 7:00AM PST etc.

Also, pre-season games up to 30th September cancelled.

Interesting article I came across. Apparently, Ovie is trying to get the owners attention, threatening to not come back to the NHL.

Quote:
“As to the future, it will depend on what kind of conditions there will be in the NHL with the new CBA,” Ovechkin said. “If our contracts get slashed, I will have to think whether to return there or not. I won’t rule out staying in the KHL, even past this season.”

Just thought about this now and it's probably been discussed already but how much of a genius does Shero look like now with that Staal trade?! Got the best possible return he could at the time and now look at the state of the league. Who knows if they'll even play this year; So essentially we could've lost Staal for nothing. Just from that perspective I think Shero made a great move, even though trading Staal was obviously a tough pill to swallow
