And rumour is that team could be Ässät? Cause we have here Stephen Dixon (our starplayer and Sidneys friend). I know that insuracy policy is big issue, but what you guys think?

(Im from Finland, so if text is hard to read, i know)
Sidney Crosby = Assat, Finland? I dont think so because Assat dont have money for Sid. I believe that Sid goes to KHL or to Switzerland.

(i live in Finland too)

My original post was the wrong thread, but that looks like a pretty nice arena Geno will be playing in.

Pat Brisson tells The Fan 590 it could cost Sidney Crosby $200,000 to $400,000 per month to insure *part* of his contract.

WOW, that's a ton of money and just a PART of his contract.

But the way he said that, does that mean Crosby would pay for it himself, even if playing for someone?

The team he will play for will pay the insurance on the contract. I doubt he will get much on top of that unless he goes to the KHL looking for 65% of his contract.

Here in Finland we have wild speculations, but maybe the wildest is rumour about your #87

Wow. If true, I would be stoked.

An acquaintance of mine played LW for Assat a couple years back. (Paul Healey)

Can Dustin Jeffrey play in the AHL during the lockout? do you think he will, or go to Europe? I'm really interested to see if he can recover from his injury last year and maybe become an NHL regular.

The Trib verified (although it's Rossi so maybe not) that Malkin's contract is week to week, so that's good. No one was commenting on the terms once he had signed to verify that. Hopefully won't miss more than a week when things start up again.

I have no idea ... I just think, even some richy teams would not like to pay that amount IMO.

So far no Europe for Tanger. He'll be heading back to Montreal once the house here is 'baby ready' -

A hockey tour organized by Flyers forward Maxime Talbot and defenseman Bruno Gervais will begin play on Thursday, Sept. 27, according to a report from RDS.

The first contest will be held in Chateauguay, a suburb of Montreal, and will feature a number of Francophone NHL players: Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury and Kris Letang, Montreal’s David Desharnais and Mathieu Darche and St. Louis’ David Perron.

RDS’s Renaud P Lavoie reports San Jose’s Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Vancouver’s Alex Burrows, Columbus’ Derick Brassard and Los Angeles’ Simon Gagne will also be on hand.

The games are scheduled to take place on a weekly basis and the cost of tickets will be $20.

RDS reports that all proceeds will go to charity

Totally forgot about Jeffrey. Surprised he's not in WBS. Is he not eligible?

Letang was heading for HC Lev Prague (Czech team in KHL) but that baby changed the things. It was very close, he already had a transfercard for it... When Letang failed, Prague went for Zdeno Chara. Apparently, Letang was a priority for them but Chara is not that bad either

AFAIK to get the AHL exemption a player has to be either on his ELC or must have been on the AHL team's clearing day roster last season. Neither applies to Jeffrey so he'd have to clear waivers.

I used Google translate on the article, and it also attempted to translate Barry Smith's comments into English, even though they already were. Somehow, "two way centerman" became "two way cakerman."

Apparently there's also a team in that league called the Eaters.

Used to be the Smoke Eaters, after a famous Canadian amateur club. I guess the Smoke part wasn't politically correct anymore.

In the Netherlands of all places?

Is Barry Smith their coach or something? Might be why Jeffrey signed there.. stats wise, I'm seeing guys that scored under a point per game in the ECHL putting up almost two points per game in this league. Jeffrey will dominate.

Their coach is Barry Smith but it's this guy, not the former Pens/Wings assistant. Maybe he knows him from somewhere else. Or maybe Jeffrey just wants to take it slow and guarantee himself lots of ice time after his long injury break.
