Seems pretty suspicious. In the past, teams over there haven't been afraid to make up excuses for why something promised didn't happen. With all the different people reporting conflicting things about whether he accepted the spot or not, it's not too farfetched to think this could be something like that.

Very much this. In the past, but today also and for sure in the future. They are very quick to release news that were never agreed in the first place.

I could care less. He could've totally torn his ACL and I still wouldn't care. He'll have a whole year to recover, and that's assuming we even re-sign him.
