I'm with you, but I'm usually at 5 or 6. Its depressing.

With faceoffs, the little pop-up "tip" window has been telling me to point the R stick toward where I want the puck to go. I must be just timing it wrong because I still end up losing most of the faceoffs.

Last year, I played so many online games that I lost count. I think total that I received maybe 3 negative messages (one was well deserved, one was your typical "you're glitching", and I forgot the other one).

I'm still on the first month of playing this years game and I already have 3. Ha ha. Last night I played a game where everyone on my team quit again but my center (I was left wing). On the other side, there was a center, right wing, left defenseman, and a goalie. My center and I had good chemistry and ended up winning 5 to 2 (I had 2 goals, 3 assists). After the game, I was about to turn my PS3 off to crash and the goalie messaged me saying "Oh, you think you're hot ****, mother ****er? Let's play again, I'll shut you out, you ****ing ******."

Hahahaha. I don't think, I have ever laughed so hard playing online. Does anyone else get messages like that?

Slide right stick to one side, rotate backwards when the ref begins to move.

Faceoff stats seem to have pretty big meaning this season, and each player has different strengths and weaknesses, for and against. Cullen wins almost every backhand faceoff for me, Koivu cannot win a forehand one, mixing in a takeoff (L1 + rotating forward rather than backward) seems to work well at center ice. If you're playing as the Wild, your issue could just be your lineups. I believe Bouchard has a like 50 faceoff skill. Powe is probably the same. I made sure to make the lines (for the default players) go Koivu>Cullen>Brodziak>Konopka down the middle.

Yeah those are my centers as well...still don't understand the Bouchard center thing they have going. I'll try that though.

Does anyone else feel like player agility, especially on defense, has gotten really bad? I like that they tried to make skating more realistic, but I'm finding it really hard to change direction without losing 90% of my speed. I'm no pro, and even I'm more agile than the players in 13'.

That said, I do like that forwards are actually faster than defense skating backwards now...

Wish I could sell the cards in free packs. Just opened my remaining three packs and got Morrow and Kunitz, neither of which I plan on using but both would fetch a fair price on the market.

Most definitely. My favorite is when people do it via voice message rather than just text.

Had this one where this guy got REALLY pissed at me for "running up the score". Guess the score? 5-2 AFTER I scored the goal. Sent me a three part message saying it is poor sportsmanship and that the pros don't ever stoop that low. Saying he was gonna report me, etc. Called me every name but a white woman.

Guess we should just put down our controllers once we have the lead and wait for them to catch up, guys. Just like the pros!

How much does Wideman typically go for on the market?

I've never understood the "message your opponent after a win/loss" thing. Why would you? If he's glitching, then he's a glitcher and not worth your time. If he's trolling, then getting a response like that just validates his behavior. If he's not doing anything like either of those, why bother message him at all? It's not even a smack-talk or "my dad could beat up your dad" type thing. It just doesn't do anything for the guy sending the message.

Still not a fan of the goalie stuff. Its either too easy to score softies or you need to be damn pinpoint accurate with where you're shooting it from.

As a rule I mostly hate playing online because most people tend to act like 12 year old boys. For pretty much all types of games.

Planetside was an exception because it was so well organized where you could join a clan. Battlefield 1942 was nice because most of the idiot kids were still playing Counter Strike and there was no audio stuff. Counter Strike and Call of Duty are absolutely horrible with what sounds like shrieking 10 year olds swearing repeatedly.

Turning off voice communication is pretty much a given when playing COD online.

I'm going to guess you've never actually played Counter-Strike then. Unless you explicitly sought out a server like that and invited every pre-teen on Steam there...

About halfway to creating my new team. I plan on having Gagne, Duchene and Kessel as my top line.

I like to warm up with a couple online shootouts (quick, painless, don't really care if I win or lose, near impossible to find cheaters)

Or the normal online game modes are:

Verses (you pick a team, opponent picks a team, and you play each other mono-a-mono)

OTP (Online Team Play) kind of like Be A Pro, but with up to 12 human controlled players.

HUT (Hockey Ultimate Team) you collect cards with players on them, and set your line-up based on what player cards you have. You have to use contract cards to keep players eligible to play, and there is a trading section to try and buy cards other people are selling. this is probably EA's biggest money maker in the NHL series now.

GM Connected (brand new to NHL 13) it's Be A GM mode but online with up to all 30 NHL teams being controlled by different members.

EASHL (EA Sports Hockey League) is OTP but with a club. There seasons are a month long and there are playoffs each season.
