EDM: Kadri

TOR: Paajarvi

I am certain both sides have issues with either player, but this could be beneficial for both teams.

Paajarvi has size, speed, and a good two-way game.

Kadri has been criticized for his lack of defensive abilities, but has way more upside offensively.

Kadri would benefit from EDMs run and gun style, and would almost certainly have ice time considering the amount of injuries that pile up on the Oil.

Paajarvi is a Carlyle type of player. Big, fast and contributes offensively.

Paajarvi has shown more offensive abilities in the NHL then Kadri, MPS also has great defensive skills. Pass on Kadri.

Already have a player like Kadri in Gagner. Also, if Paajarvi's offensive game doesn't translate, he'll still be an excellent third liner because of his defence. Same can't be said about Kadri.

I'd say the value is very similar but where is the motivation for either team to do this?

Kadri: 19 points in 51 games (0.372 PPG)

Similar value. But not a trade either team would be inclined to make at this time.

Hall/RNH/Eberle
Yakupov/Gagner/Kadri

softest top 6 in the league. Terrible idea.

Leafs need centers not wingers. Kadri stays as at best it is a sideways move for both teams.

Why are so many convince Kadri will be a winger his whole life?

Kadri has better offensive creativity, but MPS is better in basically every other aspect. Even if MPS can't end up as a top6 winger, he's still got the ability to be a fantastic 3rd line shutdown winger. If Kadri can't crack it in the top6, he's not an NHL calibre guy.

His 41 games and 2 goals last year? 8 points? Compared to Kadri's 5 goals in 21 games? Learn to read numbers.

MPS does not make it any tougher. In fact he probably doesn't make top 6.

Is it possible that the reference was to a 15 goal 34 point season as a rookie?

At this point no one knows which of these two turns out to be the better player. I'd keep Paajarvi myself because he has the potential to fit better with the Oilers. Leaf fans probably feel the same about Kadri. So be it.

I swear the Leaf and Oil fan bases are the most biased by far. To other teams both of these players would be considered AHL talent based on how they have been playing. And neither has been able to break into the top 6 consistently. Its tough to say which has more upside, but the comments here are hilarious.

The Oilers have enough one dimensional offensive players. The value is fair, but Kadri doesn't fill a need for Edmonton at all.

AHL talent? AHL talent doesn't go top 10 in a draft. Both players have NHL skillsets, they just need to put it all together. Time will tell if they can.

I don't think either team does this. From my understanding, neither team has given up on their player as both have shown flashes of what they could be... Both teams just wait it out with their guy IMO.

Some players just take longer to refine their game. If they were part of the Red Wings organization they'd still be considered top prospects with high upside... But since they play for two of the most impatient fanbases in the league, they're considered busts or 'AHL talent' to quote the genius above me.

You don't trade kadri before seeing how a summer with Gary Roberts will impact his game this year

This doesn't factor in the fact that MPS is bigger, stonger, faster, younger and actually has a defensive aspect to his game.

No we don't need Kadri's skill set. If Paajarvi puts it together, he will be more valuable to us.

In my opinion the Leafs say no to this trade and I honestly can't see how this helps either team.
