There might be some hockey (with NHL players) in north america after all^^
1 game each week, traveling to different cities in the province.

We want to continue to train and be ready when the season starts. There are guys in the Montreal area and the guys in the Quebec region. Players outside will add to that. The concept would be a Quebec team faces a team in Montreal.

The Senators have heard about efforts by Philadelphia’s Max Talbot and Bruno Gervais to organize charity games between Montreal and Quebec City NHLers during the lockout and they may follow suit with their Ontario rivals.

***Update (post #22)*** First game in Châteauguay, sept 27, $20 tickets, profits for charity.

Good for them, more of this needs to go down, and the NHLPA might get more of the fan support and get the owners thinking a bit...

good news for Canada. Alberta and BC should follow suit.

Great initiative. I'm sure the games won't be the most competitive but they'll probably still attract a crowd.

If the Toronto guys do follow suit and are looking for an arena to play in, there's one at Carlton and Church that just reopened... and is sure to piss MLSE off

The NBA tried to do something like this in the form of a world tour. It didn't exactly work out very well. Good luck to them though.

Return back to Original 6 hockey, un-dilute the talent, fire Bettman, and return to hockey while starting all over and we will be better off than we are today.

ALLEZ QUÉBEC ALLEZ!

Simon Gagné, David Desharnais and Antoine Vermette for the win, hahaha. Maybe Paul Stastny will come and play for us, haha. If only Patrick Roy was in the prime of his career, we might have a shot

As I said in the "Who would benefit from the lockout" thread, I hope to see perron playing with Giroux. Can't wait to see a fully conditioned Perron next time around

Sounds awesome!

I hope they can get it going, and as has been pointed out, doesn't fizzle out like that proposed NBA world tour thing.

I wonder if they will make teams from non-NHL regions. I would love to see team Saskatchewan take on a team Manitoba or Alberta.

Do those provinces have enough players?

I would love to see them take some games to Saskatchewan regardless though.

I heard this on RDS last night and thought it's amazing.

All of the provinces should follow suit! All Canadian league! Hell, throw in teams in the US that are interested.

This is seriously awesome. Eat it Bettman.

Each province should make a team and have friendly games. What I would give to see an NHL caliber team with a Saskatchewan sweater.

It's confirmed

Quote:
This friendly series will begin next Thursday at the Centre Multisport de Châteauguay.

Marc-Andre Fleury, Kristopher Letang, Derick Brassard, David Perron, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, David Desharnais, Alexandre Burrows, Simon Gagne and Mathieu Darche will include the game. The names of Claude Giroux, Daniel Briere and Patrice Bergeron have circulated among other earlier this week, but they still have not made known their intentions.

"We had the idea of creating a friendly series from the beginning of negotiations with the NHL. The goal is to meet supporters and by doing so, to give the proceeds raised to different foundations for children, "said Talbot in a statement.
"We want to continue to train to stay in shape and provide a high level of entertaining hockey. We will form two teams, one representing Montreal Quebec and the other, "said Gervais.

This tour will offer players a game per week, on Thursday or Friday. Tickets will be sold at a cost of $ 20. All proceeds will be donated to charitable causes as well as various minor hockey associations.

It will pretty much be an All Star game where there is a bunch of floating and no hitting.
