Pronman ranks most of his players based on stats as opposed to actually using his eyes.
Not sure this is true, though you'd have to ask him. My understanding from reading his articles, is that he uses statistics to identify what characteristics most influence success; currently, he often mentions possesion based metrics and the studies on them as proof that skills that relate to puck possesion should be weighted higher when evaluating talent. He then evaluates players based on a combination of his own viewings and third party viewings (ie conversations with scouts ect) and ranks player based on that. My guess is that he is forced to rely heavily on third party info, but I really don't see his rankings as based on stats.
For one, the types of stats he often brings up are Corsi, Fenwick and other advanced stats. Not sure where you can get these for the various leagues the prospects he is evaluating play for. Can you get Corsi for the SEL or CHL? I kinda doubt they are tracked to the extent you would need to formulate the kind of rankings he makes.
I'm not a huge fan of his rankings (or any in particular) but when you take into account how he weighs various attributes, it can provide some insight.
