My stream crapped out and I missed that whole thing and as soon as the replay started, it crapped out again.

No, looks like a bad call.
Ovechkin made his patented move from the RW, but couldn't finish.
Another PP.

AO big onetimer from the left point, Tsvetkov rebound. Congrats on the 1st point!

Edit: overall an OK game. Not great, but decent.

He wore the number before he came to the NHL. 32 being Dale Hunters number was retired, so he chose 8. 8 is taken by another player on the team right now.

It is in the NHL too. [Insert video of Kolzig vs. Tampa Bay in 2003 that apparently doesn't exist on youtube.]

My search did find this though:

So awesome.

i dont care about ov's playing in the k much less the play by play, but i would have paid money to see ov's face IF 32 was really the only available number and he had to take it.

further if ov was benched for all the power plays as i read here, then maybe the number is calling the shots. ha.

i'd also pay money to see dale hunter's face seeing that ov has become 32. the ironies really pile up.

32 is his old number so...yeah.

billmeltzer: Nicklas Bäckström and Marcus Johansson said to be close to deals with defending Swedish champs Brynäs.

I thought the SEL wasn't allowing temporary contracts for NHL players this time?

There was a ruling today that may open the door:

@Sz1909_Szemberg: Swedish anti-trust authority rules that Swedish top league may not lockout locked-out NHLers. A little confusing right now. More to come.

@Sz1909_Szemberg: SWE anti-trust ruling says also: Each club is entitled to make their own decisions reg signings. A collective league decision is not legal.

@Sz1909_Szemberg: Corrected: SWE anti-trust ruling stays until court of appeal has ruled against the decision of anti-trust authority. No appeal announced.

its not. nhl hockey isnt important. on a scale where nhl hockey is important european league hockey with locked out nhl players isnt important. play by play of those games really really isnt important. irrelevant is the team i think of.

yes....32 was his old number. you would think it would still carry a different feeling for him since he's worn it last. did he wear it in international play since or was it 8?

anyway....yea, its all true. its not important and i dont really care...at all.

Which just happens to be where Elias Lindholm, the prospect everyone's been comparing to Nicky, plays. Well, this'll definitely make it a lot easier to compare them.

SWE Elite League has decided to appeal against the anti-trust ruling. No NHLers in SEL yet.

I'd like Backstrom etc. to be able to play where they want/at home, but it's hard not to sympathize with the SEL. Imagine being a fan of Brynas and watching Backstrom and Johansson sign there only to leave at the first news of a settlement. For whatever it's worth, such a situation league-wide does corrupt the game/season in that league.

I doubt anyone around here would mind if Nicky played a few games. He's basically a hometown hero. He would put butts in the seats and I do believe the younger guys would be psyched to just practice with him.

Yeah, and that stuff is nice, but what about Brynas in the playoffs, and what about the teams who don't sign NHL players and miss the playoffs after poor starts against Brynas, etc., in the regular season? I just think it compromises the season, an attitude the SEL I guess shares (and something the KHL is obviously not going to care about).

I'm not worried about Brynäs either way. But I get what you're saying. I'd prefer if the NHL season just started on time and for the ****storm to disappear.

I don't think they're worried about compromising the season. It's more a economical thing. There's still teams dealing with the financial aftermath of the last lockout.

Its stupid we are even having this discussion. The government shouldn't be getting involved in SEL operations.

Though it was funny because some guys were impatient and signed in Swe-2.
