Sure you can say I hate toughness. Tbough I loved when we brought in Moen, Cole and now Prust. I guess having grinders playing where they should be is anti-toughness, then yeah I am.
As for Kostitsyn, he received offers from the Pens and Devils, so to say he wasn't wanted is pure falsehood.
Also if Latendresse chose Ottawa over Montreal, then it says something about us. Bergevin needs to find ways of making Montreal more attractive.
The lack of skill in the lineup is a big problem. This is evident with Prust potentially playing on the 2nd line and PP. It is Bergevin's responsibility to fill that hole. There were more than decent options on the market and he failed in that regard imo. And in that sense, so far its no diff from the previous regime in that we can't attract anything more than plugs or bottom 6 players.
He's been the GM for approximately how long now? 4 months! And you're saying he can't attract free agents? Calm down man. He filled obvious holes in our lineup for reasonable prices, signed two of our core young players and had the best draft we've had in years. Patience. Perhaps he wants to build through the draft, building through free agency hasn't been kind to the Habs.
Again why criticize the Latendresse move? He offered the contract, Latendresse himself said he's already played here and wanted to again but only long term.
Please provide the Kostitsyn offers, I've never seen or heard of this happening. Thanks!
If there is a spot open on the PP, I really want to see Eller take that spot. He played what like 5 powerplay minutes all of last year and had 2 goals?
While Eller hasn't lit it up, people need to remember that he hasn't really been given much an offensive role at all, in terms of minutes, linemates, opportunities and matchups. Even Martin explicitly admitted using him as a defensive forward.

Well Eller deserves PP time more than grinders do, and he has the size and strength to screen and crash the net, though I'm not sure we want a player his age taking that sort of abuse regularly, but hopefully Therrien actually gives him a chance.
is it just me, or are you gloating MT ? i don't see anyone here discussing anything you brought up in your post.
gloating? what's there to gloat about? the habs haven't even played one game with MB as GM. I like his approach thus far & feel optimistic he's on the right path, but his moves could end up in failure, he could end up being terrible in making trades or dealing with the pressure of in-season decision making.
but go read above, people complaining about his moves already, complaining that the team isn't skilled enough and complaining that he didn't do enough to improve the skill of the team in his 4 months on the job.
a bit ironic considering he inherited a skill devoid lineup from a previous management team that, as i pointed out in my post, spent poorly in trying to "add skill"... they lacked a plan and vision, and left us with this skill-wanting roster, how can anyone who defended their decision-making turn around and complain about MB's 4 months worth of moves?
pointing out hypocrisy isn't gloating last time i checked.

No one's complaining about new GM's moves. If anything has been said, it's that we don't have enough offensive to be competitive next year (which fairly true). But at same time, majority of people seem to be ok with not making splashes to upgrade our offense, and are happy with our new prospects and our up and coming players and will give new GM alot of time until he gets any blame. Your gloating because your bringing up issues that are not being discussed and looking for approval for you past criticism of the previous management (given that you brought it up).
What is being discussed is Prust role on the team, which should be very limited, like in his prior roles with other teams.
I don't see a competitive team employing a Prust on your PP, even if it's your 2nd wave.
Also, MB is doing "good" as in his "moves" are fairly low risk and his banking on his prospects and scouting staff. For now at least.
This is a good lesson to people who keep harping about 'overpaid' players...
Yes he's overpaid...but when he's playing so well, no one cares.
Being 'overpaid' only matters when the performance attached to it is subpar
The lesson is - Brandon Prust is playing very well now. Once he starts playing like Brandon Prust again (and he most certainly will) this deal will look bad. And I really like Prust - always wanted the Flyers to grab him from Calgary. He's a 1.5 million dollar player and that's generous. But he got 2.5 and good for him - solid guy, not dirty, backs up his teammates and chips in here and there.
