The RinkFor the not so ready for prime-time players, coaches, referees, and the people that have to live with them. Discuss experiences in local leagues, coaching tips, equipment, and training.
I'm a goalie, with that comes self-entitlement and no league fees.
Makes playing on 3 teams really easy on the wallet.
until when we have to spend 2000 to replace our gear!!
also, how does a team even get 2 goalies in hong kong?!?! and on top of that, where do you play??? when i was in HK (lived there till 2002) there were like 3 ice rinks in the entire city and 2 of them were half sized.

i play in hk…
one new rink has open at 2007 and it is an nhl sized rink…
there are tons of ppl started to play goalie in the past few years…
but the skill level of some of then makes me:=_=
for example…those drafted goalie in the full contact league…
the top goalie's career save % is around 91%
but the lowest picked goalie is a 60% save goalie-_-
we have to meet the requirements of the IIHF so we must have at least 15 players 2 goalie each team
and 15 at least games 60mins stop clock n full contact
we have to do this because we will lost the full membership if we dun have such a league …
and this league should cost more then 1000 usd per player due to the cost of the rink…
but thanks for the support of Mr. Thomas Wu… the chairman of the HKAHC
this league is now at a reasonable price…

oh good it means i can still play hockey if i ever go back to hk haha
I bring beer twice during 25 games plus playoffs..
Its good to be a goalie.
I forgot about my beer duties as well. So add that to my tab.

Ah yes, the dreaded gear is expensive conundrum. I condier myself fairly lucky. Part of my current job's benefit package is $1000 yearly to spend on "life bnefiting services". So essentially anything that improves your overall quality of health.
Massages, gym fees, goalie gear, etc.
So, I'm almost at the point fo playing for free, save gas and beer.

Hmmm, i see yoou're from Vancouver. Roberto, is that you????
$425, 20 games at 4 different rinks in the STL area. No check, three-15min stopped clock periods. Playoffs and if you finish 1st/2nd in your division you get an invite to nationals which were in Toronto and Chicago last year.
Our league fees are higher than your guys but there are mre Ames it seems. It's ~ 600$ to play full time (2 preseason, 24 regular + playoffs) during the winter.
3 periods, 20 min running clock, 3 min PP's
That's about right, give or take a few bucks. I'm a good captain and I apply all the sub cash I collect towards the next season so it knocks the price down a bit.
