That's almost Crosby and Malkin money. Perry is not worth 8.5 Million MAYBE 7.5. He's a great player but anything over 8 Million a year I consider the elite of elite.

He's only hit 50 goals once and hasn't even been close to that in any other year. Hitting 30-40 goals consistently is still good, but paying him like he's going to score 50 every year would be a laughable mistake for any team that made it.

Edit: Actually, any team but the Pens, because he probably would have little problem potting 50 every year if he got to play with Crosby.

Look how much Parise got. Perry is better.

That's what I wanted to say..he deserves more than Parise IMO.

I overvalued him, I agree, but you have to, if you want the UFA like Perry. I can bet, someone will offer him 8M per on the market.

Even with lower salary cap, the new CBA, contract length restrictions. It won't be for 12 or 13 years though, but he will get at least 8M IMO.

I think Parise is overpayed, though. I think the same contract for Perry would be fair.

If I were an agent, I would try to get the most possible for a player. If I were a GM, I would try to get a player for as cheap as possible. I'm not saying if Perry said he'd sign with the Canucks for an 8 mil cap hit, I'd definitely say no. But I would definitely think he would be overpayed.

They will both end up with Sedin esque or Toews/Kane contracts. After the lockouts I expect contracts to come down some. Either way its almost certain they resign. Ducks will have nearly 37 mil incap space next year. Money needs to go somewhere.

I'll say this, they were going to be traded to the NYR around the deadline this year, so they could leave and make cap room at the end of the year and to make a successful cup run, just cause they hate how things are being run in Anaheim right now.

I heard it was a deal like, McColgan, Miller, Sauer, Hagelin, Bickel, 2nd 2013, 1st 2014 and Thomas

Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Getzlaf-Perry
Pyatt-Stepan-Callahan
Rupp-Boyle-Asham/Halpern

Girardi-McDonaugh
MDZ-Staal
Stralman-McIlrath
Eminger

Lundqvist
Biron

I didn't know they abolished the salary cap. The only way it could remotely be possible is if we dealt Gaborik.

Are you speculating or do you actually believe that to be true? That will never happen.

Yeah. I think Slats will trade Gaborik next year to a Western conference team to replenish the prospect pool. Then he'll sign Perry to a contract similar to Richards. Might be a slight downgrade offensively, but Perry is undeniably the better 2-way player with winning pedigree.

Agree with most that Getzlaf seems like a lock to stay there, but Perry is the wild card. It will be one heck of a payday if he goes UFA as I assume there'd be at least a dozen teams bidding against each other. North of 8 if he goes UFA would be my guess. Not sure who the front runner for his services would be, likely Leafs and Pens.

nhl13?

Perry is not going to split from his BFF Getzlaf, they aren't going anywhere, they'll both sign identical contracts when all is said and done

Pretty much.

Also the thread where no-one realises Anaheim could actually re-sign these players as well!

You should change your avatar to "Posts trade on HF.... Miller, Bickel, etc. for Getzlaf + Perry"
