Looks to be very similar to the new blue seats added to the 400 level.
Look at those terrible hair styles womens clothing was so unflattering in the 80s and early 90s

No; same configuration as it always had been before this renovation (north and south ends, more or less, connected). Guess the blue seats were elevated in the map to give a better view of the west and east sides of the 300 level; would have been blocked otherwise by the 400 level.

Quick question for those who may have a better recollection of the original MSG. Looking at this picture:

Were those the first luxury boxes built in the arena above the blue seats on the north & south ends or something else?

yes those were the first boxes. the renovation in 89 or 90 i think extended those boxes around the 8th ave end and also brought in the big bank of boxes on the 7th ave end that removed the 7th ave end blue seats. when msg lost its soul IMHO

Maybe it's just me, but the garden looked so much better back then. Way cleaner and simpler. An experience between the observer and what's going on with as many seats as they could cram in. The electronics and amenities all just detract from the experience. Look at how beautiful that ceiling is!

Yes. Try going to a game now with no replays. I always could not wait to get home so I could catch a couple of goals replayed on the 11 pm news.

Man I forgot about those days when MSG did not have the jumbro tron. The first time I went to a Ranger game the renovation was going on & the luxury boxes that eplaced the old blue seats was in full swing. They used to cover them up with a tarp during a game.

Anyway, it was annoying not to see a replay of anything. Back than you had to hope you would be able to see it on the local news, I don't recall espn being much into hockey back than.

Beautiful ceiling notwithstanding, I don't see how anyone could actually prefer to not have a jumbo tron.

Looks like the bar railings were taken off to match the glass around the rest of the arena in the 400s blue seats. Would be awesome if those bars are gone.

Interesting concept art...the bridges look higher and not in the way here. And the jumbo tron looks nicer.

Seems accurate. Notice how there is no hockey game going on here.

I would take more stock in a computer generated image with actual measurements. This is an artist's conception and IMO there's no way the bridges will look that "out of the way"

1) Why is MSG showing it only as a basketball court?
Can we get some hockey pictures?

2) Last season (and most) I have sat in the 400s...last was 430 2nd to last row and the seats view was poor. Are the views much better?

3) What else is let to do at MSG?

4) Why is it the first row of seats still is not at ice level like at every other arenas (Boston). Instead they are elevated so there is a platform in front and you are not flush on the boards?

1) There are plenty of hockey pictures posted earlier in this thread.
2) There was no Section 430 so you must be mistaken. The new view should be better in most seats, but not the back rows of the 400's. All of the 200's should have a good view unless the bridge gets in the way.
3) Not sure I understand the question, but if your asking what else is there to do at MSG, it isn't much. Just more clubs, restrooms, and better concessions.
4) Because the seats are removable. If you take out the ice rink, the seats will extend down to the floor like you mentioned. But the geometry of the building does't allow for that with the dimensions of the ice surface.

I like the color from this photo. They look like comfortable seats, too.

I see they didn't even bother changing the color of the bar in the first row I'm sure they'll paint it though after everything is done.

Also, this is from Al. Not really news but I'll post it anyway.

Al Trautwig ‏@AlTrautwig
BTW, when they do play games at the Garden, new camera angles and lighting will make MSG look like it never has before.

.
If they replaced that concrete and bar with glass, those seats would be the best in the house. A great view, with a great atmosphere, for a reasonable price. I would be looking to move over there so quickly, but that concrete ruins everything!

Someone should reply to Al's tweet and ask him why there isn't glass there

"Closer to the action than ever"? Al, they're in the exact same spot they were when the building opened

how about having seats under the ice to look up and see everyone play... we're on the theme of stupid seating ideas anyway
