As for Dredd...it's really not surprising that it is doing so poorly. The source material is almost unknown in America and the Stallone version was just an awful disaster. If it is legitimately good then word of mouth will help greatly with the receipts...but it's already fighting an uphill battle as September is basically no-man's land when it comes to theatrical releases.

I'm sure it'll do better in it's native England than in the States.

Dredd is currently at 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, I do want to go and see it.

I went and saw End of Watch over the weekend. It's a great movie and probably the best cop movie I've seen in years. It's at 84% freshness on RT.

I'd like to see both. Dredd will be tough because it seems like one that would really be improved by seeing it in the theater in 3D, but I don't see me convincing the wife to go see it.

Well after a quick trip to the mall right across the street from my new apartment, I've already noticed that so far people are a hell of a lot friendlier in Kitchener than they are in Timmins.

You want friendly people? You should visit the Maritimes!

Scratch that. It's boring in our neck of the woods.

Just had a meeting this morning with a Master's program I am interested in. I took the LSAT for kicks and did relatively bad on it (56th percentile my cycle). The program is top 5 in the nation in its field, and usually requests the GRE. However, after a long and fruitful chat about my goals, the head of admissions said my "body of work" of experience and education meant that he didn't think I needed to worry about the GRE, re-taking the LSAT, or even getting in.

Yay.

The NFL needs to come to terms with the refs. The absolutely mind-bogglingly bad calls happening week after week are making the games a joke. That call at the end of the game tonight was an utter farce, and I hate the Packers.

Slow day in the OT thread... Anyone else playing Torchlight II, and think it's a whole hell of a lot better than Diablo 3? I do.

I haven't played torchlight II, but being better than Diablo 3 really isn't that impressive its a shame, I was very hopeful. I'll probably pick up torchlight when it goes on some ridiculous steam sale some day.

I just got in the Project: Eternity kickstarter and it inspired me to go back and play some old cRPGs. Icewind Dale is great.

Tried to give 2 week's notice at work today. Got told they didn't want to see me again after today. I pointed out they have absolutely nobody to do what I do there and need me to give someone a passdown. My last day is now friday, lol.

If you have the money, that would be an ideal scenario, IMO. Get a week vacation before you start the new gig. Yes please.

Seeing as I can't run Diablo 3 (stupid video card requirement when I only have an Intel based laptop), Torchlight 2 is the only option for me.

A damned good one, however.

My ideal scenario is that I get a new job that wants me to start Jan 2nd, so I can take advantage of the Christmas season where I can clear 3-4 grand a pay.

It depends on the circumstances, but that seems like a bad way to handle your employees, at least from my perspective. There could be something I am missing, however, in general you really can tell which companies treat their employees right. Employers get what they put in. If they treat their employees like adults, pay them a fair wage, consider their suggestions, give them a little bit of flexibility so there's a good work/life balance, and treat them with respect....they will get that back in terms of productivity, good work, and loyalty (generally speaking).

That's what I love about amusement park crowds...I keep getting older and they get younger and younger...yes they do, yes they do.
