If These Teams Got Contracted Player Draft

Lets say the Ducks, Flames, Capitals, Sabres, Panthers, Lightning, Preds, Stars, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets and Coyotes were contracted. You're the GM of the new expansion team you get to start your team with 8 players from those teams the catch is:

you have to pick
3 players 22 or younger
2 players 23-30
3 players 31 or older

and your 8 players cannot have made more than a combined 5 All Star teams(1st or 2nd). So for example if you were to pick Martin St. Louis(who has made 4 1st or 2nd All Star Teams) you are only allowed to pick one player who has made only 1 All Star team and the other players can not have made an all star team

You are allowed to pick draft picks who haven't played in the NHL yet

Do not take current contracts in to account

Your only goal is to win as many championships as possible in the next 5 years

Here is my team as an example

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Tyler Meyers, Marcus Foligno
Shea Weber(2 all star teams) , Mike Smith
Campbell(1 all star team), Vincent Lecavalier, (1 all star team), Shane Doan

I actually only used 4 all star teams but I hope you get the point

You have over 5 all star teams. And I added 4 new contracted teams so try again.

Stamkos, Skinner, Faulk

Rinne, Weber

MSL, Robidas...I guess Campbell. Not a lot of good old guys on these teams.

Sort of short on high end forwards, but they're all in bracket #2 which has a top 2 D and a top 2 goalie in it as well.

Edit: the Caps and flames have been contracted now for some reason.

Oops. Misread the OP.

I'm too lazy to look up how many all-star appearances each player has, so I'll pass on this.

OEL, Kuznetsov, Huberdeau
Backstrom (how has he never had an all star appearance?), Weber
Kiprusoff, Campbell, Doan

I believe that's 4 total all star appearances.

OP is referring to All-star teams. Backstrom never made it on the all-star team because he was never a Top-2 Center during a season.
