I love how with 28 posts in there has only been 2 actual Habs legends posted so far: Ken Dryden and Juha Lind.

Zeddy! Loved Zednik, he was a beast until Mclaren killed him in the 02 playoffs.

Pretty sure that was proven to be a popular misconception. Not 100%, though.

He was my favorite player as a kid.

Yes it is. He would NEVER cut threw the middle after that hit. He was more predicatable than John Scott when he had the puck after the Mclaren hit.

Another former #6 Ralph Backstrom, great little center the lynchpin to the Habs getting the 1st overall pick that was used to draft Guy Lafleur. He was also the 1st line center for the WHA's 1974 Team Canada,Gordie Howe was his RW on that line.Backstrom showed why he had won the Calder trophy with his play against the Russians.

Following his amazing playoff run
2001-2002 Canadiens GP 4 G4 A4 P8 he had

SEASON TEAM GP G A P +/- PIM

2002-2003 Canadiens 80 31 19 50 4 79
2003-2004 Canadiens 81 26 24 50 5 63

Not too shabby for the team we had.

For someone who become more predictable than John Scott, he managed to increase his goal and assist production for two years after the fact.

It's true that it did somewhat change his style of play though. I definitely remember him not cutting towards the net as much. He eventually became more of a perimeter player.

That being said, the whole Mclaren event was grossly exaggerated, Montreal style.
