Sharks pass and I'm sure a couple Hawks fans pass on this as well.

Hawks fans are generally going to hate this deal, that much I can tell you straight away.

***Also, Frolik would possibly be included depending on where the cap ends up, but we can send him somewhere else if you don't want him.

I don't think Hawks fans would be super pleased to see their top two prospects go in one deal, albeit one that fills their needs, and for Sharks fans I think Pavelski has more value than that.

EDIT: I'd take Frolik.

It stings for me too, but the thinking is we have two good drafts coming up and keep our 1sts. Pavelski is still in his prime.

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Stalberg-Pavelski-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Shaw
Carcillo-Kruger-Mayers

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Boyle
Leddy-Rozsival
Brookbank-Montador

You have to like the looks of that roster as a Hawks fan.

Unless the Sharks decided to start rebuilding, I don't see why they'd do this.

Also, don't the Hawks already have too many defensemen?

If we did decide to rebuild, this would certainly be a decent start. Pavelski is on the right side of 30 and in his prime, but he's not exactly young. Couture, Saad, Teravainen, Hertl, Nieto, and Hamilton as young forwards looks a ton better than what we have now.

I dunno. I consider it because I'm on the pessimistic side of Sharks fans.

Yes but Boyle would be a huge upgrade.

I don't want to deal Saad, I can see us parting with TT but too much of our future going away in this trade.

As far as the players involved, I would love Boyle but in the end I would not pay what it would take to get him in Hawks jersey. Pavelski on the other hand I would pay the price but I don't think the Sharks fans will be interested in any "fair value" proposal for him.

Really? I'm a Hawks fan and I'd take this anyday. Of course we would probably add a contract like Frolik to it as well. But we steal this trade if it happened. But this is HF and ppl will hate on it.

Highly doubt SJ management would do it though.

Pretty sure San Jose could get better value trading JP and DB separately.

It is nice, but to be a contending team, don't you think they'd need to move a piece or two for a goaltending upgrade? I'm not sold on Crawford being the guy for a Stanley Cup drive.

If Crawford plays half as well as he did during his rookie season, he'll be more than good enough.. especially behind that theoretical roster.

I never saw Niemi being the guy for a cup drive either.

Half as good as rookie season... so a 4.60 GAA would suffice?

I'm not crazy about it, but it would make the Hawks a better team for the next three years at least.

I don't see why San Jose would bite though.

This is flat out terrible for san jose and makes no sense from their point of view.

Without even evaluating value, this trade can't work because both of these teams are contenders. SJ wants to win now, not have young players hit their prime around the time their best players retire.

I think Chicago would be dumb to NOT do this deal. They are primed to win another cup, they just need a few more pieces. This trade gives them their pieces and entirely fits their needs. Id consider them a top cup contender this season if the deal went through, without a doubt.

San Jose flat out says no way.

If Boyle and Pavelski are traded to Chicago together, Kane will be coming this way.

Would this even work under the cap? That is quite a bit of salary heading to Chicago. And value wise its tough to say it is close because Teravainen has never played in the NHL, and this would leave SJ in a very tough position. I don't see it happening.

I'd love this as a Hawks fan. The overrating of specs continues...
