Honestly, it doesn't look too hot for a lot of these guys, which is disappointing considering they were all almost first rounders.
How is it not looking good for them? They're both progressing great

That's usually my first trade, bringing him to the Oil.

Yup his shoulder is still bothering him. A guy to watch who I was impressed with last game was Stephen Shmoorkoff, or Mayo although his first game was shakey

Lazar scores barely a minute in.

Oil Kings 1 - Hurricanes 0

Mason Geertsen with a huge, clean open ice hit on Cane's Jamal Watson.

Drew an instigator and took care of business.

He is looking really good this year.

Tristan Jarry in goal.

1-0 after one.

Thanks for the update IATL. How are Moroz and Ewanyk doing?

Ewanyk has been very good. Physical and a monster on the dot. Dont think he has lost a draw all night.

Moroz doesnt look like a fit on the St Croix, Foster line. He took a blindside elbow to the head in the first but was back on the ice in the second. No fights from him this year yet either. He hasnt been as physical as he used to be.

Disappointing would be a good word to describe his play so far this year.

1-0 after the second.

Shots are 43-14 for the Oil Kings.

Cane's goalie Ty Rimmer has been out of this world.

Maybe he's trying to justify his draft position and as a result isn't playing his game?

I think he is trying to play more of a clean game. That seems pretty obvious to me.

Moroz had a much better third period. Drove hard to the net, worked hard on the boards and came to St Croix's defense after a Cane's player hit him in the head.

Oil Kings outshot Lethbridge 60-20 and controlled the puck all night.

Looked like they were on a pp at es.

Jarry with the SO and Ty Rimmer with the best goaltending performance I have seen this year.

Foster scored on the pp and Samuelsson scored late.

Strong game by Samuelsson.

Is Laurent Broissoit gone, or was it just a night off for him?

I'm reading on Twitter that the Oil Kings' 60 shots set a new WHL record. Hmm...

Wow. What a dominant team. Hurricanes didn't play good but that doesn't take away from the fact the Oil Kings absolutely dominated. Edmonton is so big, fast and skilled that it is really hard to match up against them. If it wasn't for Rimmer, the game would have probably been 7-0 alteast as he played fantastic.

Is that an average crowd for Lethbridge?

They must just be scrapping by.

Must be really hard for teams like Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Kootenay, and some of the Saskatchewan teams to be able to stay afloat and compete with some of the bigger cities.

Apparently Lethbridge is losing a crapload of money right now and Swift Current today reported a profit of just $4,000. Such is life when you have such a diversity of markets..

Id say that it is a little below average for a weeknight (usually around 3000), but weekends usually get more, for instance on Friday's home opener there was 4500+ IIRC. Also has to do with the fact that Lethbridge is a very fickle fanbase. When the team sucks (which it has for the past few seasons) not many people go, but when the team is good, they will get good crowds. I think the team will take steps forward from last year, so hopefully they can attract more people.

That only makes sense.

Crowds were pretty sparse for the Oil Kings four or five years ago.

They still arent near what they should be imo, especially with the lockout and the winning team. Ive heard people say Edmonton isnt a junior hockey town, but the old Oil Kings used to be pretty well supported, at least up until the last few years before they moved I believe.

Maybe some of the older posters can chime in on that?
