Don't get emotional. We should just stop honoring ANY NA contracts. They did it for quite some time with our contracts. Time to return the favor.

Because there wasn't an agreement, now there is.

what happens if the KHL allows Yakupov to play? do they get fined or what?

They should just argue that since the NHL locked out its players, their contracts are thusly suspended - and OHL U-21 clause cannot be enacted on a suspended contract.
FHR gets profit from IIHF tournaments that they host. Then there are endorsements and IIHF "sanctioned" titles that it needs. FHR is closely tied to IIHF, KHL is closely (but not willingly) tied to FHR- and that is the problem.

If Yakupov plays, FHR and KHL will be fined further. Yakupov would probably be banned from participating in IIHF tournaments.

What I don't understand, is that since Hockey Canada is not allowing this- what the **** are they hoping to gain? Yakupov does not want anything to do with OHL now. Do they seriously think they can force him to go there? I mean, imagine how excited and helpful he'll be to his team when he's forced to play at a level lower. Whoever created this situation wants to hurt Yakupov's career, since KHL is obviously the best thing for him. And some paperwork gets in the way??

They're just being bitter/petty since Yakupov is screwing them out of money by playing for a pro team.

Just a question to you guys. Why is FHR / KHL relation actually so important? It's because FHR allows KHL to be the highest Russian league right? But actually KHL does more work like NHL or am I wrong? So there is no Russian champion any more but Gagarin Cup holders? Or what would happen if Lev Prague wins the tournament? Who would be Russian champion then?

That's the official rule, but I so far haven't seen a specification of what, exactly, the "highest ranked" means. It could theoretically happen for 2 non-Russian teams to meet in the Gagarin Cup finals. (Astana from the East.) Which of the 2 Gagarin Cup semifinalists, then, is "highest ranked" in terms of Russia? Would that be determined by the number of points gained in the regular season?

EDIT: nope, I was wrong. The highest ranked Russian team becomes the champion (decided by the play-off results and if multiple teams are tied, then the one with most points in the regular season receives medals).

FHR in an agreement (current one ends after 13/14 season) passed the rights to hold a highest tier championship to the K.

In this case it would be the higher seeded of the conference final losers, provided it's a russian team, but it's not necessarily the Continental Cup holder.

This is the summmary after playoffs of last season:

1 DYNAMO M
2 AVANGARD
3 TRAKTOR
4 SKA
5 METALLURG MG
6 AK BARS
7 TORPEDO
8 ATLANT
9 SALAVAT YULAEV
10 BARYS
11 SEVERSTAL
12 AMUR
13 DINAMO MN
14 YUGRA
15 DINAMO R
16 CSKA
17 METALLURG NK
18 NEFTEKHIMIK
19 SPARTAK
20 SIBIR
21 LEV
22 AVTOMOBILIST
23 VITYAZ

Which would be untrue. NHL players have signed contracts that say they have to report when their team assigns them to the Minors or the Juniors. Yakupov was assigned to the Juniors before the lockout, he is not a locked out player, his contract is perfectly valid.

Not that it's not dumb to block him from playing in the KHL during the lockout, but that's another story.

It's Sarnia actually. Hockey Canada can't issue the transfer card if Sarnia doesn't release Yakupov.

Malkin is good, 2 assists so far, but Magnitka looks strong in all lines.

6-1. Malkin's first goal. I'm not sure, but may be Lev underestimated Magnitka after winning vs Vityaz, Severstal, and others.

I hope they spend all their energy on Lev so that Slovan escapes the beating on Saturday.

(Lev currently serving as "test-driver" for Slovan, playing @ Magnitka, Traktor & Avtomobilist a couple of days before Slovan in each city.)

unfortunately I was at work and didn't get to see Magnitka play, but based on the four games I watched so far, I find it really disturbing that the guys from the NHL are not the best players on the ice, or at least they don't look that good so far. probably at the exception of Malkin.

SYu won't make the playoffs, if they continue to fall apart like that and don't fix their goaltending problems. We may blame Radulov as much as we want, but he was a true leader of that team.
