Why is Dmytro Berezin the backup goalie for donbass? he's on the bench tonight, what happened to Horyashevsky? the official site puts berezin on D2

why? it's not like they need him to fulfill the quota

they actually had 5 on the ice today (+1 bench)

Varlamov didn't play

Berezin was the backup goalie

Starting line was:
Kaspar - Fedotenko - Ponikarovsky
Wilson - Babchuk

Another loss for Donbass. Lost 2-1 to Lokomotiv today.

Varlamov sat out again, with Poni, Fedotenko, Materukhin and Kvitchenko as the Ukrainian's playing (if you count Babchuk he played too). Was Varlamov that bad when he played? As captain, you'd think he'd be dressed every game unless he's injured.

Season is going to be really hard. Varlamov? Well, after the signing Ponikarovsky, Fedotenko someone need to transfer to the reserve.

Rather than sitting out the captain, wouldn't it make more sense to sit out Belukhin or Kiiskinen than the captain? Even having him playing 4th line minutes is better than having your captain in the pressbox. How does he lead his team from there?

We do not know with you all the nuances. Maybe it was decided to rest Varlamov.
Maybe what other nuances. The coach knows best.
