Speaking of player voting, vote for Patty in the HF favourite player tournament. He's up against Luongo:

Patty's winning 13 to 7. I wonder if it's the calm before the storm of all of Lu's fans taking over ! I love how the one poster said he's had a great showing since the playoffs. His showing in the playoffs is pretty brutal.

Patty's still up in that poll. I definitely want him to win it even if it's meaningless.

Kovy-Zajac-Zubrus
Elias-Henrique-Butler/Sykora/Clarkson
Teddy-Josefson-Clarkson/Sykora/Butler
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

It's not pretty, but it could be worse in my estimation. If we could move a defender for a warm body at forward, I think we'd be in decent shape.

My Season Preview:

Devils' MacKinnon odds at 1 ball. ~2% chance of victory.

It's not terrible, but my one concern is that we're not very protected against injury & regression. I think it's pretty likely that at least two of Elias, Zubrus, and Clarkson regress a bit. Henrique should continue to improve, but a sophomore slump isn't out of the question. And invariably someone will get injured.

Would be nice to have some additional punch on the 2nd or 3rd line that could insulate us from some downside scenarios.

Kovalchuk - Zajac - Huselius
Elias - Henrique - Sykora
Zubrus - Josefson - Clarkson
Carter - Gionta - Bernier

I'd like something like that.

Someone like, say, Ponikarovsky?

Agree with the post, by the way.

Yeah, kind of upsetting that we couldn't keep him for that small amount of money.

At the same time, it's not like his game isn't replacable. Poni wasn't a very smart player, and I believe that the Devils needs more creativity and intelligence up front. I've been on the Huselius bandwagon for a while, and I'm not sure what his health status is right now, but he'd be a perfect fit for our top six and PP.

If we're looking to replace Poni, I'd also give a look at Eric Fehr. He had a down 11-12, but was saddled with a lot of bad luck. Historically, he produces like a third line player and brings a big body with size.

More pressure than should be there, but he's getting a real chance to shine. Hopefully either he or Butler seizes that chance.

agreed but... thats a lot to hinge on butler and teddy, neither of whom is anything close to proven...i really think we need to package some d together (starting with urbom) to get some help on O by December.

unless we get another henriqueien surprise

I agree, but Lou can't do anything until the lockout is over, unfortunately.

Scott Parse is now in the system. He's at the Albany training camp no idea if they signed him or if it's just a tryout.

If his injury issues are behind him no reason he couldn't eventually make the NJ roster. A much better choice than Janssen or Barch.

My only concern right now, is we don't have a stable third liner to fall back on. Right now, if Tedenby, Butler, or JJ can't play top six minutes, it moves Clarkson up there. I doubt we'd see a third line of Tedenby-JJ-Butler. That's too soft and I can't trust Butler and Tedenby on the same line, to be honest.

We just need one more guy that can, at the least, play third line minutes, and ideally, top six minutes. That hole can either be filled by Huselius, Fehr, or via trade ( I would love to get Paajarvi for Volchenkov) that would be like a dream trade.

What's with these Kings cast offs? Harrold now Parse? I guess Lou is transitioning from acquiring Atlanta captains (Holik, Kovy, and Havelid) to LA Kings castaways.
