Well glad to see it wasn't a flame war, but these teams are just all wrong as trading partners. Both looking to upgrade the top pair and don't have any excess d-man to replace the roster spot lost in a deal for one.
I havea bad feeling this might turn into a bad decision, but I'll just go ahead and say it: To be honest, I would turn down Giroux for Pietrangelo. And while the Schenns for him is interesting purely out of the context that we are helping both of our biggest needs, it's not something I could pull the trigger on, as the value just high enough.
I'm not saying this to say your players aren't good: Clearly, they are. It's simply a matter of the value of Petro to the Blues, imo, is higher then any other player to their team in the league. I don't think I'd trade Petro 1 for 1 for Stamkos, simply because I think we would end up being a worse team after the trade. If I'm not doing it for him, I'm probably not doing it for anyone.
I think this is a pretty fair opinion, and jives with my feelings on trading Pietro too. The Flyers have some great players, but its hard to figure a trade that helps both teams.
While I agree both Schenns wouldn't land Pietrangelo, it would be overpayment for Shattenkirk and I'm a big Shatty fan.
I have to agree with this, I would do both Schenns for Shatty pretty quickly. Luke could be his replacement on the right side and Brayden is going to be a very good player. He quickly became my favourite Phlly player last playoffs.
We are pretty stocked with wingers(Tarasenko, Stewart, Perron, Oshie, McDonald, D'Agostini, Schwartz) so Read is pretty much a non starter, and we are trying to win now so a first rounder doesnt help us do that.
Van Riemsdyk was beginning to bust and Holmgren was foolish to trade Richards. (Although Wayne Simmonds was an awesome return)
I wouldnt say Holmgren was foolish to trade Richards, Im a huge Richards fan btw, but its too soon to judge. Sure Richards is great and had a lot of success with the Kings but they got a pretty awesome return for him, lets see how Simmonds and Schenn pan out before calling it a foolish move.
Once again two teams with forwards to trade when both of the teams need defense...Just a no-go boys, nothing personal...I would love to have some of the Flyer players but we both need the same thing. I think we should try to raid the Senators for some of their young D.
I'd drive anyone outside of Giroux to the airport for Pietrangelo. But as I said in my previous post, that's an obvious no-go. Point is these 2 teams aren't good trading partners at all.
I wouldn't flame you. I wouldn't trade Giroux for Pietrangelo but I can definitely see why St. Louis wouldn't do that deal either. Philly has great top 6 center depth (Giroux-Briere-Schenn-Couturier), and hey, half of Flyer fans think Couturier will be as good as Giroux in a few years anyway. On the other hand, the Blues have no one to replace Pietrangelo. IMO the best young d-man in the game.
Giroux for AP would be the perfect hockey type trade if the teams were built accordingly. With the build of both teams then neither teams does this even though I consider there value to be about equal with a slight edge to Giroux.
Really? I have to disagree. I'm expecting big seasons from both Schenns this year. Pietro might be the best player in the trade but not by much so I'd stick with two solid players.
That's a joke.
Both Shenns would get Shatty I am sure but they would not come close to getting AP and if you would not trade both for him then you obviously overvalue your players. The Flyers need a player just like AP and both Schenns would seem to be a no brainer for AP. Although Blues say no thanks.
