Tell me how its possible after the new CBA brings in a much lower cap than 70 million, that Gomez will be on this team? THe numbers will make it impossible. He does not fit in financially or positionally . Gomez will not be in the habs line up whenever the season starts.
If the cap seriously decreases and the players refuse to take a roll back, they'll have to allow buyouts. Too many teams are over as is.
I wonder why they are keeping him, it seems like quite an large albatros to keep overing a team on the eve of a new era with a new management. You usualy want to get a clean slate with the least amount of negatives. Somehow I can't imagine many games in the season with Therrien being asked Gomez questions by journalists without him going nuts sooner than later.
Wonder if it's because Molson is cheap and doesn't want to pay for a guy that's not gonna play for the team in the minors.
National Hockey League regulars Scott Gomez, Nate Thompson and Joey Crabb, all of Anchorage and all out of their regular jobs because of the NHL lockout, are on the ice with the team.
The Aces say Crabb has signed a one-year deal with the club -- that signals he intends to play for the Aces -- and Gomez and Thompson have signed professional tryout agreements (PTOs). The PTOs allow the players to practice with the Aces. They could still sign with the club, although Gomez last week said his previous experience with the Aces -- he played for them during the 2004-05 NHL lockout -- was a one-time deal.
