To answer your question, Rockie, it's easy: be from Manchester

The Newcastle supporters were basically the only ones heard during the match at Old Trafford yesterday.

to be fair the microphones are always near the visitor stand at Old Trafford

different mindset I guess, I personally cannot fathom the thought of going to a home game and not chanting along. why go if you're not going to be loud and obnoxious?

Perhaps BritDevil can answer this, but how much does it cost to go to a match?

more than the list price. prob ~$100-150 IF you can get tickets

If it's a marquee match you actually have to apply

I dunno what's the price in England, but in Portugal you can get season tix for around $200, includes 15 games plus whatever euro competition games up to the quarterfinal

$200? Are you sure you're not missing a zero?

Depends on the time of the match and where it is...

When I was in London in February, I could have had Arsenal tickets, at face value, it CHEAP seats for around $170 USD I think it was. For a Saturday evening game.

Tottenham match at home? Good luck, sold out for ever. $200+ second hand market.

Chelsea? I was offered tickets in the supporter section, I think that was only like $120 or so.

Some matches are at very strange times to keep public drinking and what not down, like 10AM on a Sunday or stuff like that, those tickets tend to be less expensive.

Edit: This is of course all Premiere games inside London. The prices are sky high. Tickets for lower league games were WAY way cheaper in most cases, and I'm sure tickets to games outside of London are cheaper too.

This post was just an eye opener that my rough plan of going to England and checking out a few Premier League games one day will be MUCH more expensive than I figured. I didn't exactly think tickets would be cheap. But I was probably expecting like 60ish percent of those numbers to be the price. Or maybe I was just hoping Tottenham would be more like $100-$150 as that's the one I would most want to go to. Well... at least now I have a reality check that this isn't a trip I could pull off anytime too soon. Damn you, exchange rate.

Scott, if you are interested talk to Peter tomorrow. He knows a lot about European tickets. I know he talks about how cheap German tickets are compared to other countries but I guess that doesn't help if you want to see an EPL game.

Not going to bother with it tomorrow. Never made any actual plans. Just one of those things I talked about doing one day, but not anytime too soon. I need a job to have the money for such a trip. But if I get a job, I probably don't have the time for such a trip. Kind of a pipe dream to an extent, but one of those things I would like to do "some day."

Well, the main thing was I was working while I was there, so weeknight or weekday games were virtually impossible for me to either deal with or want to deal with.

If your on vacation, you can EASILY squeeze in a day or weeknight game. The tickets would be a bit less for those times. Especially if you reach out to a supporter group in advance.

A UEFA Thursday late night match ain't bad, only 106 pounds. Or roughly your left leg... I mean, or $170 bucks.

What are you smoking, and can I have some of it?

I paid ~£23 for a Europa League semi-final game.

Nah, Tottenham isn't far enough east to really get the bad ones. And it's a little too far north as well. It's kind of near the 'Williamsburg Brooklyn' of London too...

The only British girls to watch out for are from Essex. And they're kind of like Jersey girls...

I don't know the first thing about British girls. All I know is that this one was adorable and had to good accent, not the trashy one.

What can I say? I'm biased against Tottenham.

Ya, the accent is key. You don't want the chav girls or the Brummie girls. Geordies have a slightly negative reputation (there's a show on MTV UK called Geordie Shore and it's exactly what you think it is), but I like their accent. Very friendly sounding.

I paid about £50 to go to 3 matches. That includes taking my wife to 2 of them.

If I was a Chelsea "member" it wouldve been about £90 for 4 games because they sell seats via their site like TicketExchange as Id imagine others do.

See Championship games as well. They can be mighty cheap.

The Reading-Arsenal game is £20 per person. Seems neat, might go just for shiggles.

Joke is on them. My left knee sucks. As long as they don't take my glorious, healthy right leg. Then we're ok.

This. She had dat accent. As was said, the good one. Not the bad one. And their equipment guys had amusing accents too. The bags holding all of the players' cleats looked like it had withstood an explosion of skittles and it was so cool and colorful...

What? It was...
