Monahan

not too bad , about the standings but it would have been sweet to take monahan, excluding ceci, cowen is their any team in the top that would be willing to swap picks with us. I reeealy want to see Monahan in a Senators jersey and no offense to leafs fans but it would be criminal to see him play for Toronto.

G-d I hope the Caps don't pick him, even though they are more likely to than other teams do. I am sorry everything about him as of right now horrible skating and hands of stone just scream either long long project or bust. I would hope that they would be smarter (or IMO my idea of smarter) and go for one of the other big (in size and abillity) prospects (preferrably a power forward), Zadarov, or Lindholm (as he works well with Forsberg).

By the way (no offense) but this order of selection is horrible. Mackinnon not in the top 2 much less the top 10, and almost the entire order.

Things like this make me want the lockout to happen because I see a player like Mackinnon but more importantly as I doubt we would get him, is Jones or Monahan.

As HORRIBLE as that sounds.

CGY drafts Seth Jones at 4th.

And I CERTAINLY hope the Habs won't draft last... After a boring lock out, I would seriously cry.

MacKinnon would be amazing, but even if not MacKinnon getting Seth Jones would be dirty...

Rielly, Jones, Gardiner, Blacker, Percy, Holzer, Finn

Theoretically, Habs first (30th) + Nashville's 2nd (55th) Montreal's 2nd (60th) and Calgary's 2nd (34th) would help Montreal get to 20th ? 23rd ?

Depends on which player a team's scout likes, and if they feel they can safely drop down and still get their player.

And what if the drafting order would end up being something far different?

The OP was just one variation. The balls would still have to picked.

Hopefully. The Canadiens picking 30th would be a very sad result for a team needing a ton of help offensively. In a perfect world, my habs gets their hand on one Mackinnon, Barkov or Mohanan. Aleksandr Barkov might be the best fit for us, but at this point I'm kinda rooting for Sean Mohanan. I love just everything I read on him and a Galchenyuk/Mohanan duo up the middle in 5 years would be terrific.

EDIT: After further thinking, I wouldn't mind Jonathan Drouin at all.

and that's why i have to chuckle a bit at seemingly always seeing the Oil draft from mid to late round in almost every mock. revenge for three 1st overalls in a row!!!

If I was able to draft for the Leafs and MacKinnon is gone, I look no further than Sean Monahan. We need that 1st line centre and a Toews 2.0 is absolutely perfect.

I would shart if Anaheim got a top ten pick.

Mackinnon, Jones, Monahan, Barkov, Shinkaruk, Lindholm, Ristolainen, Lazar, Pulock, Drouin. I'd love to get any of those guys.

I agree with this more. If Jones proves himselft I can see COL taking him as they are already deep in the C position.

Just felt like posting this somewhere. If we have a full lockout and the draft is done similarly to the last lockout, this should be a rough estimation of the lottery order. They averaged each teams previous 3 draft picks to determine how many balls each team would get in the lottery. This obviously doesn't take into consideration the winners of the lottery in previous years. I assume they will have 3 balls for the first 10, 2 for the second 10, and 1 for the remaining 10... Probably just wasted my time, but it was fun

Edmonton - 1, 1 , 1 =AVG 1st Lottery Rank = 1
Toronto -2, 9, 5 AVG=5.3 Lottery Rank = 4
Florida 3 , 3 , 23 AVG = 9.7 Lottery Rank = 8
Columbus - 4, 8 , 2 AVG =4.6 Lottery Rank = 2/3
NYI - 5 , 5, 4 AVG = 4.6 Lottery Rank = 2/3
Tampa bay - 6, 27, 10 AVG = 14.3 Lottery Rank = 14
Carolina - 7, 12, 8 AVG = 9 Lottery Rank = 7
Winnipeg - 8, 7, 9 AVG = 8 Lottery Rank = 5
Minnesota - 9, 10, 7 AVG = 8.6 Lottery Rank = 6
new york rangers - 10, 15, 28 AVG = 17.6 Lottery Rank = 18
Dallas - 11, 14, 13 AVG = 12.6 Lottery Rank = 11
Anaheim - 12, 22, 6 AVG = 13.3 Lottery Rank = 12/13
Calgary - 13, 13, 14, AVG = 13.3 Lottery Rank = 12/13
st.Louis 14, 11, 25 AVG = 16.6 Lottery Rank = 16

Colorado -17, 2, 11 AVG = 10 Lottery Rank = 9

I think this is closer to what they used before, but I applaud the effort. Nobody really knows how they'll do it this time.
