After devastating Hurricane, JR announces team will change name. New name will be Tobacco Kings, like in that one episode of Arli$$. LA Kings do not approve. Team changes name again to IceCaps. Washington Capitals do not approve. Team changes name to Panthers. Forget that a team in South Florida already owns that name. Team changes again to Whalers. People in Hartford not happy, threaten lawsuit. JR and PK give up and sell entire ownership to Quebec businessman. Who for some bizarre reason keep team in Raleigh and name them the Southdiques. People in Quebec riot.
This is the SEC, we need approx. four teams all with the same name.
Jeff Skinner not reporting to the AHL with supposed "team consent". He's still in Toronto. Apparently, he's trying to wait out the lockout and will only play with Charlotte on his terms... odd to say the least. Justin Faulk reported for fitness testing today.
Poor character. Not a team player. We better unload him before the cancer spreads.
Guessnitnisnt surprising, I'm all for these guys playing but both he and hall are pushin the boundaries for what should be playing there. Two years in both in prime NHL roles. Faulk could actually benefit, but you know every clown making a name for himself will be running skinner.

Personally I don't see it as odd at all. If he thinks that working out with Roberts is better for his game than schooling chumps with one hand tied behind his back, and the organization is OK with it, I don't see the problem. I'd rather him get jacked, to be honest, I mean he's already in shape as it is, but some extra strength could let him actually hit someone back when he gets pissed off rather than just cry and get *****y about it...
There is no 20 year old on the planet that will get better at hockey by not playing hockey and I don't care how much time in the gym they spend. If he wants to play in Europe, I would be more than happy with that decision. However, if he wants to stay in NA he needs to be in the AHL, goons be damned. The league is going to be full of young star players this year and unlike other seasons, there will be a method to the madness of taking runs at players I would imagine. Nobody wants to run Skinner and then have to protect RNH the rest of the night. Besides, if he's going to get hurt again he's going to get hurt again regardless of where he plays, IMO. We can't treat him like a delicate flower. He needs games.

But at the same time, Jared Staal's going to be on the Checkers more than likely. It's bad enough getting run by another team's goons, but if Eric can convince Jared that he'd be more likely to make the Canes if Jeff were out of the way, Skinner will have to look out for blindside headshots from his own TEAMMATE!
I don't think of it as him not playing at all, I just think id rather see him playing in Europe instead playing in the ahl. More a real test at this point. Faulk needs the most work in his own end, and he'll get that there.
Considering how well our prospects in the AHL have done with jumping to the NHL, I'm ok with Skinner not going. I'd think his game is likely to slip playing in Charlotte, plus the AHL goons. He's been playing hockey most of his life, he isn't going to suddenly forget how. I think most of the gripes around his game revolve around what he is actually trying to work on, so it's a win/win.
Ever since he signed that deal he's come off as quite a tool. Not sure what his deal is all of a sudden. Guess he's not happy about not getting a shot. Maybe he shouldn't have sucked down the stretch last year. Though, that's more of a commentary on his teammates than the organization.
Not sure why this org seems to attract goalies that seem to be such ****** people.
