The Leafs' development system is atrocious, and that's a result of the market they play in, and their management philosophy. Kids are rushed and don't learn how to play proper defence, or how to play responsibly with and without the puck.
The media pressure there is absolutely insane.
I would definitely bring Kadri in here, because the Devils can take their time with him. They don't need to force him at all, send him to the AHL and let him work on his game. No need for him to play in the NHL right now.
However, I doubt the Leafs fans would think anything of a Burlon and Tallinder for Bozak and Kadri swap, they would probably dismiss it really easily saying Burlon is a crappy prospect and Tallinder is an overpaid 6th defensemen.
Why is Kadri looking like a bust? I think he still looks promising.
he's a leafs prospect....as i said before they ruin talent... off the top of my head... boyes, steen, colaaciavo, stajan ,schenn, tlusty, ....theres more ......but almost always players once gone from their team do better elsewhere.
a garbage franchise with a herd of sheep that follow.
and wheres pogge nowadays?
as for ian white....they did 'ok' with him in trade at least ......he wasnt damaged when they sent him out, hence the return:
2010-01-31 Maple Leafs get Dion Phaneuf, Keith Aulie, Fredrik Sjostrom
Flames get Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers, Matt Stajan, Ian White

Still more than that. Think what it would take to pry Granlund from the Wild, and it's slightly less than that.

He's been languishing in the AHL for a while now, and apart from a few flashes, he hasn't impressed. The inconsistent offence he brings doesn't make up for his other issues.

I think it's more the pressure and the pressure from the media that gets onto these kids. I'm sure it plays a lot on kids when they turn on the TV to hear media blasting him or hyping him up to be something they aren't. They come into Toronto with such high expectations and when they don't accomplish those, both media, fans, and probably even the player himself is let down.

That's because he's expected by Canadian and Toronto media to be the second coming of Wayne Gretzky, when all he truly might be is a second line forward. He's still only 21, once he gets out of Toronto he will be a 40 point player, at least, at the NHL level.

i could see that.....a decent player..... it is both a shame and comical what toronto can do for a young player's start in the league.

I mean, Leafs fans are still high on the kid, but I proposed the other day sending Tallinder and Burlon for Bozak and Kadri. I'd totally take the risk on Kadri, I think that's a fair deal, but the you'll have the Leafs fans overrating the **** out of Bozak/Kadri and underrating Tallinder/Burlon.
I'm all for low risk reclamation projects, but acquiring Kadri doesn't feel like that kind of move. He comes with a lot of baggage still.
Unfortunately.
Have a feeling Lou invites Fehr to camp, maybe even re-invites Sykora. Should try some guy like Thoreson out of the KHL as well, he's been lighting up the KHL recently. Basically tells Sykora, you outplay Butler/Tedenby/JJ/Parse/whoever, you are on the team.
Thoreson's (28yo) point totals in the KHL:
09-10: 57 points in 56 games, 10-11: 66 points in 54 games 11-12: 41 points in 45 games 12-current: 12 points in 8 games.
don't know if it was said yet, but apparently these photos (posted previously) of Kovy & Malkin are from a Russian children's movie that's being made right now
