As an outsider, I would deal Kadri for Luongo, plus maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and a cap dump like Connolly, Komisarek, or MAYBE Macarthur, not much more.

Kadri, Connolly, and a 3rd would be porobably the best offer.

Then why in the world would Toronto give Kadri and Gunnarson?

They wouldn't

Think more along the lines of Komisarek (dump some cash) and a 3rd or 4th (goodwill gesture)

Kadri's fat now, it's been in all the papers.

Let's see what a new CBA has to say about Luongo's terrible contract before we talk about him again, please

Let's say Komisarek becomes a #8 d-man on the Leafs, and wants a trade out.

The "best" offer is from NYI.

Dipietro + a 3rd or 4th.

Does Burke deal Komi for DP or does he just keep Mike on the team?

Considering Kadri is a bust, the Leafs should trade him for Luongo, although they'll have to add more.

Considering Luongo's contract is a bust for Vancouver they should take what they can for him.

I think the Leafs would be wise to do this if the Canucks were interested
Leafs do give up one their best prospects but his value has been up and down and up and down (mostly down) since he was drafted.
And then in return the Leafs fill a position where they are weakest with a top 10 goalie in the league - the contract sucks but the Leafs are a far far better team after this trade.

What good would Kadri do for Vancouver anyway? He could be NHL ready but is he ready to make a serious impact on a cup contender?

He probably is NHL ready, but he's stuck in a place that doesn't know how to develop young players.

Canucks fan saying there's no way in hell I'd trade Luongo for a deal centered around Kadri. Luongo is being criminally underrated.

Why would the Canucks even do that? Instead of carrying dead weight, why not just keep our Vezina calibre goalie??

Because Burke wants to relieve the Canucks of a significant cap hit and a $46 million commitment and make sure that they get good young talent in return. He's generous that way.

I would say no because we still don't know about the new CBA.

Because he doesn't want to play for your team any longer.

Kadri for Luongo? If I was Toronto I'd take that and run.

Funny that..I seem to remember Ryan Kesler being the Canucks' heavy favorite for Conn Smythe going into the final against Boston...Of course, it came out later that he was playing hurt and thereby virtually invisible in the Cup Final. Luongo was very visible..he played in two modes...shutout mode or stinkout mode. Stinkout mode was the winner and the Canucks were the losers. No elite goalie plays as poorly in so many critical games as Luongo. No goalie I can think of anyway. He is not a pressure goalie. Toronto is a pressure cooker. The two make for a recipe for disaster.

Explains why he's out in Vancouver practicing, right? Explains why he's come out and said he's okay being in Vancouver, right?

He has that long term contract that everyone keeps talking about so we can easily just sit and wait until an offer comes about.

If he wants to be paid he must show up.....As long as he is a member of the Vancouver Canucks, he must say the right things in the media and to the public and his team mates. Its the only right thing to do. Its the only professional thing to do. Luongo is handling the situation like a pro athlete should. He is not dumb. He has an agent, who I am sure is telling him how to handle the situation. Its all show. If anything Luongo is gaining some respect with how he is being a team player in the public's eye. But he doesn't want to be there. Does he?

He wants to be a starter, and furthermore he wants to start 60+ games and all of the playoffs. In Vancouver all he'd get is a timeshare. A split. But that doesn't mean Gillis is just going to give him away to Toronto, or take on a dump like Komisarek. That's absolutely absurd and laughable.

Luongo will only be dealt if and when a team offers us something that addresses a need. Nazem Kadri is not that return.

Luongo practicing with his current teammates doesn't mean that he is staying but if he wants to stay and is not going to be traded then I guess that means that Schneider will.
