Besides Bishop/Anderson, Ottawa has Robin Lehner who could be better than both.

Oh yeah, and Luongo doesn't get you Kulemin. Sorry.
Luongo can't get a 7 goal scorer? no thanks on Kulemin anyways.

Like I said, based on the draft strength, Kadri and a 1 might entice me. But I'd rather target Lupul.

Probably the position I took around draft time. Things have changed...the Canucks didn't get any forwards out of free agency so we still have a need up front. Lupul fits that need perfectly. The Leafs have a pretty good offense and just added JVR too.

Lupul blossoms with Kessel -- ppg -- and you think he is getting moved?

Zero chance you get Lupul. Unless something happens and he loses his chemistry with Kessel, Burke will hang up fast if he's asked for that.

How do you expect to get an elite goalie without addressing the other teams needs? You have to look at it from a Van perspective too: we don't have to move Luongo unless we get a trade that address our needs.

Why do I feel like I've read this thread before.

With Franson just signing in the SEL, I don't think Toronto will ship out another D. Their depth at D is really good from a long-term perspective, but they'd be in rough shape if they shipped out Gunnarsson.

I think Kadri would make sense. He's already been criticized in the media by the coach of the Marlies, and personally I think a fresh start with a new organization would really benefit him. He's no Hodgson but another young C to compete with Schroeder seems like it'd be good for the organization.

I like to follow the Leafs and I browse their boards sometimes, and it seems like he's one of the most polarizing players in the league based on what I see there.

You do realize Luo had 2 shutouts during the Boston series right?

How? Gillis shot himself in the foot signing a 30 year old goalie a life long contract. It's killed the value he should have.

I'd say that probably is about right. But the other side of the equation that doesn't get raised is that Burke's options of acquiring an elite number one goalie are even less. Probably one.

And played huge in game 7 in the Chicago series. Oh, and also had an entire defense that was injured or suspended in the Boston series. It was so bad, the team even called Nolan Baumgartner and told him to be ready. Baumgartner was tanning on a beach when he got the call...

I said the "meltdowns" as in the games he got roasted in a disturbing fashion.

What does that have to do with anything? We have an asset that fills your positional need. We aren't giving him up cheap, nor do we need to at this point.

I'm not a Toronto fan. Far from it.

Replace the word "your" with "Toronto" and my post still stands.

Leafs don't need any more toxic assets. Plus the new CBA will probably punish anyone who signed those cap circumventing deals.

The asset is only "toxic" if the CBA decides to punish everyone who signed a retirement contract(Weber, Parise, Kovalchuk, Luongo, Hossa, Suter, etc, and their respective teams). While they may prevent new ones from being signed, the owners wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot by punishing contracts that were legal at the time of the signing.

You have side-stepped the question. If he doesn't acquire Lu, and TO misses the playoffs, is he finally fired?

To be really honest, I think the Leafs should go full out rebuild, and do it the Edmonton way. But that's a whole other topic.

I'm not averse to including Kadri in a package, but it would have to be significantly more than straight up.

And you know what Lu's value is how? Direct line to Gillis? Answer: No one _knows_ what his value is. Speculation has become fact here somehow.

I'm sure Dale Tallon told him.

Is that what Toronto as a collective fan base wants? You don't think there is mass pressure to make the playoffs this year?
