Weird scene at Nats park. Huge celebration as they trail 2-0 going into the bottom of the 9th after the Bucs finish off the Braves. Awesome.

What an exciting time to be a baseball fan of this area. Sucks the Nats clinched the division in a loss, but cool none the less.

Just ordered a couple division T-shirts to savor this moment.

Love that both the Nationals and the O's in the playoffs. Helps lessen the sting at least a little bit about the NHL lockout.

Harrison brothers to announce destination Thursday. I'd happily give up hockey until February if they're Maryland bound.

Looks like Gio and J Zimmerman to start games 1 & 2 of the NLDS. Decide on the third starter once they know who they're playing.

So if the Nats lose today and Cincy wins, the Reds get the top seed and the winner of Atl/StL. Nats would play SF. If the Nats win or they lose and Cincy loses, the Nats keep the top seed and would play Atl/StL.

Atlanta and St Louis both seem hot. Even with the long trip I think I'd maybe want the Nats to play SF first. Could go either way. Assuming Atlanta pitches Medlen (sp) in the wild card game, if they win it might be nice to face them without having to go against him.

Fun having real October baseball here though.

On the one hand, the Nats have had little trouble with the Giants this year. On the other hand, you're facing Cain and Bumgarner on the road, rather than Hudson and Hanson I guess? or Carpenter and Wainwright.

Well, none of those are exactly appetizing. Oh well, whatever will be will be.

A Traitor? Nah!

Okay, so what would be better than all "3" of my teams making the playoffs?

The Nats, the Birds, and oh yeah... the other (Central) team: the Detroit Tigers.

Gotta love it, as I cannot lose. I love all three teams, and will be thrilled if any of the 3 win the WS.

For some reason, this puts me in mind of a Detroit woman I met the day before the Wings won game 4 against Belfour and his crew. She asked me if I'd seen the last Wing's playoff game.

I said: "Sure, and you know what that win means, right?"

Her: (I could see the fire cards shuffling in her head).

Finally, she said:

"That means we go to the Bowl, right?"

Later on, I felt bad about laughing at her reply. She was a wonderful lady, and her family was lucky to have her. She took it well, so I told her what would happen.

So, let's go O's, Nats, and Tigers!

Congrats on the hugely momentous accomplishment, you guys. Never thought I'd live to see that day where Teddy won a Presidents Race!

Does this mean that Ted is shifting his attention from the Caps to the Wizards? I guess with no hockey obviously he will. Soon all the sports fans in Washington will forget hockey and spend their money on basketball instead.

Washington is a fantastic market. They understand we have a great building in a thriving neighborhood, the quality of life here is really high, and we’ll spend the money.

All of the stars and moon will have to align the right way. I’m not shy about spending money and going and getting the right player,

Well...Ted might have bought that Caps back in the day though really wanting the Les Bullez. I take that comment more just about pushing the Bullets and not any ulterior motive hockey vs. basketball.

I imagine it has more to do with him being unable to say just about anything about the Caps (talking about the lockout = fine for the owners), and wanting to find something positive that he can talk about for his other properties.

Agreed. Plus, there is legitimate, decent vibrations surrounding the Wizards this season (or there were before the Wall injury was announced.) They're going to have a putrid start to the season now though, especially if Nene's injury issue persists into the season, but that's a club that is actually a scoring 3 away from being a very solid club if Wall develops his game to an all-star level.

Cards popping the champagne now. Imagine if MLB makes them go back and replay an inning tonight/early tomorrow...

Call was terrible, but (other than Philly) there's not a team/fanbase I'd sympathize with less. Payback for Hudson's terrible call a couple weeks ago.
