We heard early in the summer from a few sources that he was making great strides. A few months later it was back to negative news.

My guess is he had yet another setback.

The Rangers never gave a timetable. It can take up to 3 months before physical activity is allowed. It has not been 3 months. On Friday,Rick Nash was out for the season. What's today's medical crisis?

The way things are going Dylan will have at least a couple more months to get ready. And seriously I don't see him getting more than a cup of coffee with the Rangers if they play this year. No use worrying about this right now.

Taken from snyrangersblog.com, 10/2:

"At Ranger Rants, Andrew Gross spoke with Dylan McIlrath and McIlrath said that he will know much more about his time table in two weeks when he visits with the Rangers team doctor.

McIlrath told Gross that he hasn’t had any setbacks in his rehab and that he is still working on upper body strength while easing into riding the bike with his surgically repaired knee.

He added that he wanted to make sure that he did his rehab correctly so that he could return to the Rangers at 100%."

Just curious, is he allowed to see the Rangers' doctors during the lockout because he doesn't have an NHL contract? What about someone like Gaborick who got hurt last year and is obviously in rehab mode, is he locked out from doctors too even though his injury is Rangers related?

McIlrath already signed his ELC. And players who were injured playing are not locked out. Gaborick (and Sauer) are being paid and have full access to to all facilities including the training center and the medical staff.
