More like Girgensons-Grigorenko-Armia
Grit and two-way ability on the LW. Great vision, playmaking, and sound positional D in the middle, and then Armia can cherry pick all he wants on the other side.

Edit: Also, Girgensons and Armia together if Ruff ran an aggressive forecheck?
Edit 2: But I do like Grigs on RW on the PP. He looks very comfortable setting up along the half boards and sometimes sliding back to the point and QB'ing it from there.

Armia's now 2+1, got an assist on no-one other than Michael Ryan's first goal of the season.

EDIT: 6-4 for Ässät, 3rd period

So what you're saying is Armia shot the puck off Ryan and in? Because no way Ryan can score with his hands.

If his numbers hold, he'll be 5-3-8 pts through eight games. Not bad for a 19 year old in a professional league.

Already another primary assist for Grigorenko. I'm not watching the game tonight unfortunately, can anyone give more detailed updates?

Lost a faceoff (of course) but the Remparts ended up getting possession back.
Grigs made a nice no look pass from the right of the net back to Lefebvre.

And he takes his first penalty of the year.
Rare sight.

The faceoff thing is weird. He actually looked very good during the summer mini tourney at this facet.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with it.
Not sure if he just doesn't care or suddenly forgot or something, but it's ridiculous.
This is my first time watching him this season, so I'll have to keep an eye on it.

The referee ousted him 3 times from the faceoff in the 1st period. It looks like he's trying.

Jacobs was a guest on TPS last night; he's at 6'2" 207 now; and here's the audio:BTN also had a snippet about him in their Prince George piece:
Quote:
The acquisition of Buffalo Sabres prospect Colin Jacobs from the Seattle Thunderbirds has revitalized the Cougars' offence. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound centre has notched four goals and nine points throughout his first four games. It seems the Texan is set to break out into a star in his fourth year in the league after struggling with injuries last season.

"Colin is very motivated this year to have a big year," says Thompson. "He has been a great older presence up front for us. I think Colin along with Alex [Forsberg] down the middle gives a great one-two punch up front."

Awards:
Jacobs has an uphill climb, but damn, it would be nice to have a mid-rounder turn out as a legit pro prospect at this point.

He was pretty dominant from what I read tonight, so I'll have to buy the archive.
Probably going to watch him live tomorrow to see the Rimouski draft eligibles (and if not live, definitely archived).

Now that I'm making money it's a lot easier to waste it.

Roy said before the game he's supposed to talk with Regier about Grigorenko at the end of October. Regier will tell him what they plan to do with Grigs. If there's still a lock out and no hope of an agreement at the end of October, Regier will probably tell him they'll let Grigs spend the season in Quebec. What a coincidence... Kucherov will come back from his injury at the end of October...

If the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team were opening the season with a game that counted on its record, it's likely that sophomore defenseman Jake McCabe would be in the lineup.

But since the opener Saturday night at the Kohl Center is an exhibition game with the U.S. under-18 team, McCabe will not dress in what UW coach Mike Eaves said was a precautionary move.

McCabe has an undisclosed upper-body injury that has limited his involvement in preseason drills.

"We're just being smart about it,'' Eaves said.
If you want to see McCabe this year:

Nov. 30: at Denver, 9 p.m., NBCSN
March 1: at Nebraska Omaha, 6:30 p.m., NBCSN

Not the best game from Armia today. Came close to scoring once, hit the post, other than that a fair deal of turnovers and otherwise lackluster play. Ässät won 2-3 after shootout against TPS

Awesome! Let's see if he can keep this pace up for the whole season. Last year he finished with a 1.44 PPG average. This year he is at 2.3. I would expect him to improve from last years numbers for sure and so far he is doing just that. Let's hope that continues throughout the year and improves on his face offs.

Grigs leading the Q in points in 2 less games then Danult.

Isackson notched a natural hat-trick and 10 SOG in a preseason game for the Gophers tonight. He skated on the first line with Bjugstad and Rau.

Quote:
Sophomore Christian Isackson, a little-used forward last season, scored the first three goals as the highly touted Gophers crushed Lethbridge 7-0 on Saturday at Mariucci Arena.

This exhibition looked like a scrimmage between a varsity and JV team. The Gophers, tied for first in one preseason national poll and second in the other, dominated as expected. They outshot the Pronghorns from Alberta 65-16.
Quote:
Isackson, scoreless in 11 games as a freshman, scored 1:45 and 4:13 into the power play. He got his hat trick at 1:08 of the second period.

Maybe his star is rising. The 6-2, 190-pound right wing also was on the Gophers’ first line with holdovers Nick Bjugstad and Kyle Rau.

Link: http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/172988151.html
Quote:
“Tonight was great for Christian from a confidence standpoint,” head coach Don Lucia said. “Last year he never played at the pace he needed to play with and have a little bit of tenacity. He looks like he’s got a little bit more of that.”

Isackson didn’t have any points last season and only played in 11 games. Lucia compared him to junior Nate Schmidt, who also had a less-than-stellar freshman year before bursting onto the scene during his sophomore campaign.

Schmidt said he would be happy if Isackson followed in his footsteps.

“He worked really hard last year,” Schmidt said. “It [showed] off tonight that he went out there and capitalized on his opportunities — he put the puck in the net when he had to.”

Isackson was the right wing on the first line that also featured Nick Bjugstad and Kyle Rau. The Pine City, Minn., native said it helped a lot to play with such great players.

Lucia hinted that the first line could stay the same when the regular season begins next weekend. That leaves the possibility of having a second line that features Erik Haula, joined by captain Zach Budish and either Nate Condon or Sam Warning.
