Damn Sinusitis again. **** you sinuses. ****. you. Here I come ENT specialist.
Just had surgery on my sinuses two weeks ago, as I could not handle multiple sinus infections each year. Also had bmy deviated septum removed and replaced.
Can breathe well for the first time in years. Sleeping better. Hopefully, the sinueses are well cleaaned out and the infections also stop.
Didnt hurt nearly as much as I was expecting. Got a little Carl Malden thing going on with swelling, but that should go down.
Apparently Seth McFarlane is hosting the Oscars. Yahoo is running a full page story about "who Seth McFarlane is" because he "isn't a household name". WTF? Are there really people who have lived under a rock for the last decade? He created one of the most popular animated shows of all time in Family Guy and did the highest grossing comedy movie this year in Ted.
I still won't watch, but I hope McFarlane is 100% himself at this thing, and offends the precious sensibilities of some of the attendees who sorely need it.

Awesome. I'm hoping I can have something similar happen.
Did you have trouble smelling prior to the surgery? I do.
I think MacFarlane, if anything, has overstayed his welcome and has now gotten to the point where his schtick is tired and annoying.
Family Guy, yes...I agree.
But I think MacFarlane is still a comedic genius. He hosted the season opener of SNL this year and was brilliant. He still has time in Hollywood, but it's time to put the cartoon comedies to bed.
As someone who lobbied to get Family Guy back on the air 10 years ago, I'm pleased Seth is getting some time in the spotlight. I find him funny (and I'm on the other side of 40). Hell, he's even gotten a gig with Lipton on "Inside the Actors' Studio".

In my experience most of the people who find his stuff funny are the people who are smart enough to know all the cultural references in his shows. The average person isn't though and thinks they're all fart and vomit jokes.
South Park is the same way, although South Park has gotten more obvious with their references over the years.
I think I just got a trip to the UK by asking to be one of the people trained for something at work. Heh. I didn't know about the trip, just wanted something new.

Knowing cultural reference does not equate to being smart...
I get the references and still find the formula tired and dull after a few years. The cultural references feel extremely forced at times.
My Partner and I just moved into our new rental house. Still getting through some of the hiccups, change of address forms, unpacking everything, not having much furniture, etc.
The problem with Family Guy is that it's gotten insanely stale and boring. It was incredible the first few seasons, but now it's like The Simpsons, they've covered everything that was funny and now all the characters are boring. South Park on the other hand manages to stay fresh, which is why it's still awesome.

I feel like Family Guy struggled to create an interesting 'verse in which to exist. The simpsons did a great job of defining minor characters, to the point where most people could probably name 20+, but I don't think Family Guy has. And both fall short to a show like Futurama where the scope is virtually infinite.

My wife had that. Polyp surgery required. Her sense of smell comes and goes now.

Nice. And a good place to keep spreading that resume, shotgun style.
