Business owners lose a percentage of all sales made with a credit card, so maybe thats why Wayne hates them.

People also spend money with credit cards they otherwise wouldn't if they didn't have them so it more than works out at the end.

A lot of people like it actually. I don't personally though(the look, not the idea). As a company, why not though? So it seemed like they were throwing these pieces away before. Why not use them for a card, rather them wasting them? Like you said, it's better then cards saying "you have received a game use jersey piece..." Change it up time to time.

*You think that's ridiculous? Wait for the video card. Not sure what happened but both UD and Panini came out with a card where you can watch a small highlight video of the player.

Like dre said, Panini knew they would have issues with packaging so they made the cards as a redemption. All cards are ready to go once redeemed. Some guy sent the code for a Wheeler on Tuesday and he got it on Thursday via Fed Ex.

Might as well throw them at people. Birthday weekend and I'm off Wednesday, so if I remember I'll try to upload some cards.

The 2011/12 Prime Base card is a gorgeous design. ANd although I don't go for high end cards, I wanna pick up a few base cards from that, they're fairly cheap on eBay anyways.

Question though, what are some of the really gorgeous looking base cards from high end sets (meaning the card is thicker than normal which is what I also like)? I'd like to buy something else which has this ring to it.

I suggest searching this on youtube on a box break to see what it really looks like, really nice.

Did Panini make a special case for those lace cards?

Also, question.

How much do you guys think a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Young guns rookie graded 9.5 with 1 grade 10 (surface) is worth ?

Cool idea but good luck fitting that in a toploader or magnetic holder.

^ I believe that card's a redemption and I think it would be mailed in a team loader if you won. I still don't like the front, I would rather own the Panini Prime Base, gorgeous design. Got a few so far from that and The Cup base but had to pay $7 for a Sakic Prime Base.

Anyways, can someone tell me some good looking sets in terms of the base from the mid 90s to the lockout? So far I have this:
2000/01 Topps Gold Label
2001/02 Upper Deck
93/94 Leaf
94/95 Leaf Limited
94/95 Parkhurst Vintage SE
94/95 Score Select
94/95 Ultra
94/95 Donruss
95/96 Pinnacle
96/97 Donruss Canadian Ice
96/97 metal universe
96/97 SPX
96/97 Upper Deck
97/98 Leaf International Universal
97/98 pinnacle certified
97-98 Donrus Priority
97-98 Donruss Preferred
97-98 revolution
98-99 SPX Finite Radiance
99/00 HoloGRFX
99-00 Pacific Dynagon Ice

cards from 1991 to around 1998 will be worth next to nothing (base sets anyway). They're everywhere... cheap ass companies like Pinnacle, Pro Set, Score, Parkie, Donruss... on & on & on diluted the product.

Any thing from '88 (OPC/Parkhurst) & older are nice grabs & r worth $ now.

That tin u got, sounds like a "Hot pack". filled w/, like u said - Young Guns & inserts. Also, tins r only sold & Walmart, Zellers etc.
If ur looking to hit Games Jerseys/Auto's etc. Hit up your local hobby shop for "Hobby Boxes". Guaranteed a pull of 6+ YG's & 3+ GJ's

I love eBay so much!! I just picked up a 78-79 OPC Mike Bossy rookie card for $20.50. Its not perfect, one of the corners is a tad bit bent, but for $20.50 I wont complain.

Doesn't matter to some, I like quantity and I'm happy that I'm able to buy cards for players I watched as a kid in the 90s for cheap. Plus some of the designs are amazing. They don't make cards like a lot of those anymore since the focus now by card companies is on higher end stuff.

Btw anyone here about that fishy story from Upper Deck with some guy who lives near a UD production plant having 3 of the most rare Cup cards up for auction on eBay without really having other auctions up?

Off eBay I got a Brayden Schenn future watch, signed /999 and graded a 9 for 12 bucks.

For 80 bucks (not including shipping) I got the above card;
Adam Larsson patch 2 colours, signed /99.
Sean Couturier Young Guns graded 9.
1 Patrick Roy card numbered 740/1000 Millenium Signature series red
Team foundations Guy Lafleur/Patrick Roy numbered as well.

On top of all this I believe I found a Patrick Roy Topps rookie in my collection that I had bought as a lot. I think the guy believe it was the remake, but when I checked the date on the bottom on the back it said 86...

Sorry I've never collected hockey cards before how do you tell which cards are valuable or does it just depends on the player you get?

It varies. The player does have something to do with it, but the company that makes it, the series it is from, if it is base/parallel/ect, if there is a serial number, ect.

Over the past month, I've been finding and using suggestions going through the best looking mainly base card sets from the 90s up to the mid 00's. Here's what I have so far, great cards imo and I'm gonna try to order some for each from somewhere cheap. If anyone knows of some base sets from the 90s to mid-00's with thick cards like newer ones such as The Cup or Panini Prime or Dominion then let me know.

2003-04 McDonald's Pacific Atomic (and 01/02):

2003/04 Pacific Private Stock

2002/03 Pacific Private Stock

2002-03 Topps Chrome (and 01/02)

2001-02 Upper Deck

2000-01 topps gold label

1999-00 dynagon ice

1999-00 HoloGRFX

1998-99 SPX Finite Radiance (I love this one, I haven't seen it in real life but seems to resemble the 10/11 Dominion base card for the front)

1998-99 aurora laser cuts

1998-99 Revolution

1997-98 Donruss preferred

1997-98 pinnacle certified

1997-98 Leaf International/Leaf International Universal

1996-97 SPx

1996-97 metal universe

1996-97 Canadian Ice

1995-96 Pinnacle

1995-96 Bowman's Best Refractors

1994-95 Ultra (the front of this card is average but I like the back so I'll post that):

1994-95 Select

1994-95 Parkhurst Vintage SE

1994-95 Leaf Limited

93/94 Leaf

When I was a teenager in the '90s I collected thousands upon thousands of Cards, and would without execption as soon as I opened the pack would put them safely under plastic for my future retirement...
Problem is everybody else did the same exact thing. The reason that cards from the 60's, 70s, are so valuable is that kids played with them put them in there bike wheels for that cool sound. And indevitabley their mom threw them out after a few years in the closet. So the Mint/Near mint cards from that era are in fact rare. Plus there is One Rookie card from that era of any partiular Rookie(in the 80's you had OPC in Canada and Tops from the States) Same exact card but the OPC had French and English and is a little more rare.
In the 90's you had Uperdeck, Score (Canada, and US versions), Bowman, OPC, OPC premier, Tops, Parkhurst, Leaf, Pacific, Fleer, Fleer Ultra,Pinnacle...,all had their regular plus the extra sets that came after.. so a Jager Rookie card is pretty much worthless. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Jaromir-Jagr-...item337c79a952
However a Lafleur Rookie from the '70s in Mint is worth abut a grand

It's sad that the only cards with value are found in 100+ dollar boxes with 24 cards in them.

It's not even rarity anymore.. It's just the value you put into the cards in the first place.

^ Meh you can collect them for a personal collection with the intention of keeping them in which case resale value doesn't matter.

Anyways, does anyone know the biggest stores on eBay based in Canada which sell hockey cards? Ones that have thousands of base cards? I tend to get cheap bases from Cdnhockeycards and checkoutmycards but eBay is obviously a good place to and I'd like to stick to one large place to get them from because if you get them from different eBay sellers then you're paying more shipping. And I also requested Canada because I hate waiting for the mail like anyone else and it takes much longer to ship cards from the US plus the whole customs thing.

Grading cards with reputable agencies can seriously up the value of cards as well.

Beckett Grading Services is usually held in high regard and getting a 9.5 or 10 is absolutely huge for a rare card of a star player. It could double or even triple the listed value of that particular non-graded card. Of course, the market is set by what people are willing to pay.

I have a whole lot of Upper Deck's NHL cards from 1993-1994 (Or was it 94-95? Can't remember atm.), it's nice to look at the cards and see who played back then. There's also a lot of WJC cards from back then, only ones that i can remember at the moment were Iginla and Giguere if i'm right.
