Mogilny's career may have ended because the Devils might have forced him to play through an injury while Elias was out with Hepatitis A in late 2005. I made a detailed post about it on page 2 of the thread in the main National Hockey League section. I think he may have been able to play longer if he had been given time to recover during that final season.
