The New York Islanders ended the window, and the first half of the playable season, with an encouraging win of the Hollywood Flyers, bringing their record against the Commissioner's team to a 3-1-0 mark on the year.
If only things were as promising against the league. The Isles closed out the opening quarter of the season with a disappointing--but not embarrassing--11-13-5 mark. As it stands, that's good for 7th in the eastern conference--though the struggling franchise has played far more games. Still, there are signs of life on the Island: after a sleepy start, Kyle Okposo rebounded during the last month to finish with a respectable 18 points. Secondary scoring continues to be an issue, while John Tavares (14,13,27) and Jordan Eberle (10,13,23) continue to set the scoring pace.
After an outstanding first 10 games, the Islanders goaltenders returned to earth, though each continue to post sub 2.50 goals.
It is as its been for most of the year--there's just not enough offense on the Island. Look for GM Jack de la Hoya to be active in seeking out a long-term solution, even as he continues to seek a miracle and make the playoffs this year.
DETROIT, MI - The Detroit Red Wings have made a series of trades over the couple of days, in order to solidify their offensive ability, and add depth on the blue line. The Red Wings acquired Andy Green from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2013 2nd-round pick, and a 2014 2nd-round pick. Greene will add size and much needed depth to the back end, with a handful of injuries already on the docket.
The Wings also completed a trade with the Calgary Flames which saw Juri Hudler, and Michael Cammalleri coming to Motown, in exchange for Tomas Tatar, Teemu Pulkkinen, Mikael Samuelsson, and a 2013 3rd-round pick. Hudler is a familiar face around Joe Louis Arena, as he takes his second go-around with the Red Wings, while Cammalleri adds some scoring depth to an already deep forward core.
I will never scold Bryzgalov ever again. Up 1-0 with two minutes left, I got a penalty and Washington pulled his goalie. Bryz shoots it up the ice, hits off a Cap and goes in the net. Puts me up 2-0, sadly he goes onto give up two goals and puts it to OT and he gives up another goal. So in that regard I will scold him. He also got an assist. Goal and an assist for Bryz.
Hey guys Columbus here, sorry about not being around past few days, RE6 has been killing me, but I'll be around tomorrow likely in the early morning and at night. Just send a message if you wanna play even if I'm on another game.
