Van - TB

To Tampa Bay:
Mason Raymond
Jannik Hansen

To Vancouver:
Teddy Purcell
3rd Round Pick

I think Teddy Purcell would really help the Canucks out.

Loving the inclusion of that 3rd rounder. Really does a great job encapsulating the essence of this deal.

Canuck fan saying no no need for the 3rd and Hansen and Raymond do more for our depth than Purcell who in my opinion is a benefactor of Stamkos

But my guess is that was a Canuck fan making the initial proposal.

Lets hear what other fans think of it until we have a consensus......

Hrmph. On the fence with this, personally. TB fans will probably hate it, though.

Horrible for Tampa. They need more top-6 forwards, not less.

And your reasoning for why the Lightning would do this?

Purcell is signed for another 3 years at a decent price, can slot in at LW or RW has chemistry with both Lecavalier (rare thing) and Stamkos.

Why would he be traded for a return like this?

Would hate to lose Hansen, but the value in this trade is too good to pass up. Can't see the Lightning moving out Purcell, anyways.

You mean like how Burrows is a benefactor of the Sedins?

Not quite the same.It takes two stars to get Burrows to produce while Purcell only needs one of Vinny or Stamkos.

I don't think this does anything for Tampa. Sure, they're getting similar value back but I don't think they're getting the kind of pieces back that make them a better team.

Ding ding ding, general rule to follow on HF Boards: If you can tell what team the OP is a fan of before looking at the username or Avatar, its a bad deal.

This isnt good for TBL, Purcell just came off a career year, and has found some undeniable chemistry with Stamkos, absolutly no reason for TBL to move Purcell at this point. And a soft player like Raymond who also had a bad year last year certainly doesnt change TBL's opinion.

Easy no from Tampa.

Vancouver can't trade Raymond this year, we took him to arbitration. (Assuming the CBA carries this over).

As an outsider, this is a horrible trade for Tampa. No way they would do this.

Sure, but we have a couple of Sedins. We don't have any Stamkos's.

Wouldn't do this from Vancouver's perspective. I like what Hansen brings to the game and am not sold on Purcell.

Ah fair enough. I had assumed because it was a lesser salary that it was in fact the arbitration process.

Tampa trades down from Purcell to Hansen, and Vancouver trades a stellar third line player for a top sixer that I honestly don't know where to slot, and also hands over another winger hurting our depth.

I like Purcell, but I'd rather keep Hansen. Even if we win the trade from a value standpoint, as well as getting the best player in the deal, I'd pass.

Tampa fans, and any other "neutral" fans, are totally justified saying this isn't a trade they'd do as well.

Value is about right. I really like Purcell but Hansen is badly under-rated.
