Marty.

Then Stevens, and Larry Robinson. Well Robinson never as a player, but sometimes it's forgotten that he was a coach in some capacity for all 5 SCF teams. You did say player role though Zippy so I guess he's out.

Marty played for all 5, and Stevens was involved with the team in all 5. 4 as a player, and 1 as a special assignment coach.

"Special assignment coach" means you sit at home and watch Netflix all day while Lou pays your bills.

I know sometimes the involvement is limited. I don't remember much about what Robinson's extent was in 03. I think he was with us through most of the playoffs. Scott Stevens did attend every home game this year though sitting upstairs with Lou, Barr, and Terreri. That's what Pete, and Lou said when he was hired this Summer as a full time coach. Pete also said he was in the locker room before, and after games too going over things with the coaching staff.

I guess I could add Jacques Caron. He was goaltending coach on the first 4 SCF teams, and is now ''Semi retired'' but goes under the title of a special assignment coach. Pretty sure he was with the team for much of the playoffs this year.

He's 3rd on my list behind Brodeur and Stevens.

ok all the niedermayer talk- i just read the title and the poll, not the OP. my mistake. i didnt know this list would be whittled down, i thought we were just asking who the number 1 of all time was and that was that. yes, nieds belongs somewhere on that list. the thought of someone voting him #1 was funny to me, but i misunderstood. carry on

My list, skewed by only being alive since '88, would look something like this:

1 Brodeur
2 Stevens
3 Niedermayer
4 Elias
5 Daneyko
6 Johnny Mac
7 Muller
8 Holik
9 Driver
10 One of: Parise/Rafalski

I think Elias has to be pushing Niedermayer right now.

This list looks pretty good to me.

There are so many players who did so much for the team in so little time... there's really not that many big drop offs in contributions/impact in the top 10.

As long as Marty and Stevens top the list... you could start making arguments for several players to follow and you wouldn't be too wrong about any of them.

I rambled on a little bit longer initially.. but let me summarize: Lou is the ****.

Then again, if it's what they did for the organization, Brylin, Madden, and Pandolfo have to be pushing to get on those lists.

That's precisely what I mean.
There are so many players who did so much, that after Marty and Stevens... you could put together a good list with a fair amount of names in a variety of orders.
