Looking at 2 trades the Sabres have made, they pretty much "stole" both their franchise goaltenders of the last 20 years

August 1992: Dominik Hasek for Stephane Beauregard and a 4th round pick (Eric Daze). Although Daze was pretty good before injuries caught up

1999 trade deadline: Mike Wilson to Florida for Rhett Warrener and a 99 5th round pick (Ryan Miller). Warrener instantly became a leader and top D-man for the Sabres Cup run in 99 and Miller, well we know how thats been. And once Warrener's "usefulness" wore off, we moved him for Chris drury

Cant remember all of the details but Ozolinsh for Nolan was a pretty big win win trade (maybe just too long ago but seems forgotten)

Again the Zidlicky for...well Veilleux, Palmer, Foster and a 2nd round pick. Huge trade and definitely a great trade for Minnesota.

I think also the Gilbert for Schultz is one of the better trades for both teams.

Rostislav Olesz for Brian Campbell

Everyone knows it was a cap dump, sure. But so many people said that Campbell couldnt produce enough to make him worth the contract still and that he was no longer capable of being a #1 d-man. He proved that he could and put up 53 pts last yr while winning the Lady Byng trophy. Playing for FL, he often gets overlooked I think.

Edmonton sending Brodziak and a pick(turned into a good goalie prospect Darcy Kuemper) for picks turning into Kyle Bigos and Oliver Roy seems to be turning into a steal. Neither of those guys are even in the AHL 3 years later or have really shown much to get all that excited about Prospect wise.

Brodziak has developed into an above average third line center/PKer and Kuemper is looking like a pretty dang good goalie prospect(although the Wild have a log jam in that department).

Palmieri not Palmer(we already had him). The second round pick itself was a win with the public problems the Wild were having with Zidlicky. The rest of the guys, save Palmieri, were just bodies to finish out the collapse.

Two more Leafs releated trades.

To Toronto: Darcy Tucker, 4th round pick in 2000 (Miguel Delisle) & future considerations.

To Tampa Bay: Mike Johnson, Marek Posmyk, a 5th (Pavel Sedov) and 6th (Aaron Gionet) round selections in 2000 and future considerations.

While in Toronto Tucker was a huge fan favorite and always played with a lot of passion.

To Toronto: Bryan McCabe.

To Chicago: Alexander Karpovtsev & 4th round pick in 2001. (Vladimir Gusev)

McCabe played some great years in Toronto, especially the 2003-2004 season & 2005-2006 season.
