Physical specimen and with dat speed. You can't help but have high expectations for him. Especially with what he did in the playoffs with his timely, insurance goals.

560x6 deadlifts is awesome. No gloves, can't tell if he has chalk. If no chalk, then he has insane grip (doing it without gloves or wraps even with chalk is insane grip).

I remember they were showing some D-tackle in an NFL draft do that. Probably more impressive with him being a big guy.

I don't think I've been as excited about a rookie in all of my hockey watching years!

Well, I haven't been watching hockey for that many years but still.

Yeah, as an ex player who worked out pretty hard until I was like 22-23 y/o, I am often like yeah I could have done that or yeah I could have done that if I just had worked out a little harder/longer ()-- but that one is like ok, I could never have done that, not even in a zero gravity space shuttle...

Tremendously impressive lower body.

A bit to much weight on the upper body, or?

It might be a concern. DelZotto had the same problem, IIRC. Pre-draft he was concentrating too much on his upper body and was too top-heavy. The team had him lay off a bit, and he was fine.

Then again, Brind'Amour turned out fine.

Kreider has looked really good in the Whale camp. The Rangers site had video of the scrimmage yesterday. Great attitude about the NHL being locked out. Chris is happy to be playing hockey and he will learn from his AHL experience. He isn't moping and complaining about playing in the AHL.

It does remind of Rod Brind'Amour, for sure.

would our fans be disappointed if his career mirrored Brindamour's? I don't think they play similar styles but they are both built like line backers

Rod was more a playmaker.

Also, obviously Kreider is strong, but I haven't heard reports he's at the level of gym rat that Brindy was. Brindy was practically addicted to exercise, he was obsessed with it.

On the Rangers, the closest guy we have to that level of commitment to hitting the gym (from reports) is Hagelin, even though he may not be quite as big.

Are you kidding me?!?!?!

Brind'Amour was a star player for nearly his whole career, we would have his number in the rafters if he has the same career as Brind'Amour. If you are disappointed in that, well you're going to end up in disappointment since Kreider will not be Brind'Amour!

Thank You, it's easy to see that people are setting themselves up for a disappointment.

I don't really think its a problem. When you play 82+ games, excess weight will come of you in a hurry. Many have the opposite problem.

On Brindamour though, it's easier to get by as a center and especially pre-lockout. A winger faces alot of situations where he gets a pass from behind at the same time he is keeping an eye on the Ds. You need to be really agile...
