Schneider looks to have the higher potential in all honesty.

Right now it`s a wash for me. Need at least two years on comparable teams to choose.

Too close to call, right now.

I think they'll both be top five goaltenders, in the not so distant future, and regularly contend for the Vezina.

I forgot about that, I would have probably voted for Cory if I had remembered.

And that was all Rasks fault?

He finished that regular season with the best save percentage. Just because the team as a whole collapsed in the playoffs doesn't mean its his fault, especially as a previous poster mentioned the Bruins were without Krejci

I'm a firm believer in that a team is only as good as their goalie. How many goalies have blown a 3-0 series lead? That could very well haunt him for years to come.

Krejci? It's not like they lost a player that is carrying the whole team.

And yet, people flame Luongo as the cause for the Canucks' collapses.

Went with Rask, but I would welcome either with open arms.

I must have lost billions of brain cells reading this comment. So the only reason Chicago won the Cup was because Niemi was so good in the 2010 playoffs. And how will this haunt him for years to come? That doesnt make any sense...

although he isn't fully to blame, he still was a decent part of that collapse

When Rask won the starting job during Thomas' injury, he lead the league in SV%. Schneider is good, but he hasn't had a workload like Rask.

Rask as of now, Schnieder needs atleast 1 season as a starter to be properly compared.

One thing to consider is over the past 2 seasons Schneider has played 66 games and Rask has played 52 games. The only difference is Rask had that one season 3 years ago where he essentially stole the starting job, but was eventually reverted to back up. Personally, I don't think that because Rask has 40 more games on Schneider 3 years ago he's more proven. C'mon, what has happened to HF's what have you done for me lately attitude?!

Anyways, I'm a Canucks fan, so obviously I take the known commodity in Schneider. His pedigree also makes me feel a bit more safe with him, he's essentially dominated every level of hockey hes played at, was a 1st round pick, has AHL goalie of the year honours etc. At the end of the day, its pretty much a coin flip. Heads or tails?

People are using the fact a just turned 23 year old rookie couldn't take a team led offensively by Miro Satan and Mark Recchi to the third round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against Rask? The Bruins over achieved that year to ever get up 3-0, just because the team in front of him started playing like the team they actually were without Krejci doesn't mean Rask played poorly. Schneider is a year older and hasn't done a whole lot more, Rask's rookie season is the greatest thing either has done.

The only way anyone can really give an educated answer to this question is if they are unbiased and have watched both goalies play 25+ games. This poll is just a matter of preference, not an indication of who is better.
