Is he still Jets property?
His NA rights are still owned by the Jets. However, that's only if he decides to come back, though.

There's an article in the WFP this morning that centers around Burmi on the rock.

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/spo...172043741.html

Despite the wording of the article, Burmi doesn't sound thrilled over much to be in St. John's. I'm glad he's decided to look at the silver lining, though.

Burmistrov has already had a meeting with TNSE and has agreed to play in the AHL since he still clears waivers. He was at their fitness testing yesterday in Newfieland.

Whew. For a second there, I thought Evander Kane pulled a huge faux pas with his Dynamo Minsk jersey. I thought it read 99, but it's only 98. ^^;

And there's an Evander Kane wrap-around attempt.

I'm not sure how reliable this guy is, but he seems to have credentials.

Dmitry Chesnokov ‏@dchesnokov
I was just told by my KHL source that, having secured the US broadcast rights, the League is now working on a Canada TV deal.

You know, if he'd just delay a bit and head towards the bottom of the circle while watching for people in the slot, he could cause a lot of havoc. The opposing D is usually scrambling when he heads back there.

US broadcast rights = equals they have a deal to do internet-only broadcasts on ESPN3. Hilarious. No Canadian NHL broadcast partner is likely to cut a deal with the KHL, meaning no KHL on CBC/Bell/Rogers; mark my words if you wish. If they do, it will cost them later when they try to renegotiate their tv deal with the NHL.

Maybe they're working on a deal with The Score?

How many bad games does Pavi need before people get worried? He is 5 games in now.

For the 5th straight game, he's allowed 4 or more goals. This time he did it on 14 shots and got pulled 26 minutes into the game.

Still a small sample, but I am curious what you guys think.

It's really hard to say without watching the games. How are the defensive pairings? Puck possession? Is he fighting the puck? How about their practices? Goalie coach? Not really liking how many goals he's let up, though.

I'm very worried. I think Huddy did a great job with a defensive crew that was riddled with injuries - shots were down, and they seemed a bit more in control of things than last year. Pavs was occasionally spectacular, but wasn't consistent enough and should have done better given the strength of the D - this is worrisome.

I don't know much about the team. I am just following the results.

I know this:
Pav's #s: GAA 4.63 / SV% 85.89
Pinc's #s: GAA 3.32 / SV% 88.35

Neither is great and I don't know if Pavi has played the tougher games.

Liberec has outshot their opponents 275 to 250 but have only won 2 of 8 games.

Ladislav Smid is on the team and I am a big fan of his.

Scoring rates in the league don't look too out of whack. Pavi's numbers place him 24th of 28 in GAA and 23rd of 28 in SV%

Neuvirth and Rask are in the same league. None have lit it up so far. It will be interesting to compare and contrast.

Frankly, I don't care how Pavs does over there... I already thought of him as a highend potential, low end results goaltender.
As long as he wakes up and fixes his positioning/conditioning when he's here... Whenever next season may be...

I agree.

But...

Struggling to find motivation in his home town, where his family can attend the games is a little troubling. I don't want his sitting pretty after getting paid. Hopefully he is using this as a training camp ans gets it together.

Better Pavs stinks it up over in the Czech Republic than in a Jets uniform.

Was this team any good last year or is he playing with the Columbus equivalent of the Czech league?

Yikes those are scary numbers for Pav. Here's to hoping he turns it around soon.

About the only thing that I can say in Pavelec's defense is that for goalies, it's often the case that going to a lower calibre of play can be a shock to your system. Shots are coming in just a bit slower and the action isn't moving quite as fast, and your timing gets thrown off as a result.

That being said, this isn't exactly a positive development. Hope he gets it turned around, because those are some pretty embarrassing numbers.

Has anyone heard anything new on Thorburn?

I know he is practicing with the Gladiators of the ECHL, really hope he ends up playing for them so I can go see him play.

That would be one positive thing. So he still has a home here then?
