Still, I have a bad feeling. The sim engine likes to let some really bad teams win all their games, and some really good teams lose all their games.
I wouldn't be surprised if I was out of a playoff spot when we get to the final 10 games.

Doubtful. I mean, I think it will balance the results more than player v. player--which will probably help the good teams with bad players and hurt the bad teams with good players.

At the end of the day, though, this is about building a team, so I like the simulation element. otherwise, it is simply a contest over who has the most skill--which there are plenty of other modes for.

On the other hand, if Tavares or Eberle get hurt, I may well lose 90 percent of my simulated games.

You should sim a season of Be a GM, you'll laugh at the results.
I've done it a few times, and Toronto and Columbus are top teams in the league for some reason.

Sometimes, sure.

I think in the 6 seasons I simmed (yrs. 1-2, x 3) the following teams won the cup: LA, Montreal, Chicago, Flyers, and Vancouver. (I don't remember the 6th--it might have been one of the above). Of those, only Montreal is really a stretch, and that came in Yr. 2 of one of the seasons.

Plus, all of those were without the trades made in this league.

Mostly, though, this way gives an incentive to play as one of the bottom 15 teams in the league, to actually try to construct a roster that will be competitive 5 years from now, etc.

There are plenty of leagues that aim to play every game--which is fine, but you're limited to basically 2 seasons at that point. The mix here is what makes this league unique, and, at least to me, the most fun.

So, how are we going to adjust the schedule for the sim? I assume that we don't need four full days to tweak lines, adjust for injuries, and execute trades (if needed).

yeah 24 hours or so should be fine I would think.

I think the reason there are so many sim injuries is that sim games have a ton of hits for some reason. Sim injuries are one of the reasons I just acquired Giordano and Glencross from CGY. Depth depth depth

I think HC should just keep on simming until the trade deadline, give us a couple of days to make trades, then continue simming until there are 10 games left.

It might take a while to stop after every period to adjust lines from injuries. It might just be fair if the AI adjusted everyone's lines.

Eh, I don't know. I think it would be better if we did like two windows a day and gave people the chance to check--assuming HC is up for that sort of schedule. (If it helps, I think we can use a "co-commissioner" to do the mechanical work, but I'm not 100 percent sure of that).

For one thing, some of us still have a number of trades before the deadline--so if a team loses a player for 50+ games, there might be a move to be made there.

Second, I'd like to try, as best as possible, to force my younger guys to play top-line minutes. Obviously I can't help it if the AI changes lines within a window, but I'd like to be able to reset the lines.

We're, what, at mid-december now?

- We could advance tonight at midnight
- SIM tomorrow morning (though Jan. 1 or so); give people a few hours in the afternoon.
- SIM tomorrow night (maybe earlier, 10 PM) (through Jan. 14 or so); give people the night to fix
- SIM Saturday morning (to Feb. 1);
- SIM Saturday night (to Feb. 14)
- SIM Sunday morning (to trade deadline).
- SIM through Sunday night (to get to the 2nd "playable window."

Seems to me that we could be playing games as early as Sunday night, right?

EDIT: with HC's note, bump everything back by one, or maybe advance two windows instead of one each time--giving people a chance to get in every-other window.

Guess I'm going to have to have 4 of my games simmed this period which is a little disappointing. No one replies to my private messages on here even though I sent some people two of them. Are Montreal, Buffalo, and Boston just not active or something? Only Winnipeg and Nashville actually replied and showed up.

If you guys don't think you'll be able to play, you can atleast pm back and say you're busy this period or something. :/.
