MLB off-season news and notes thread (Yankees re-sign Ichiro)

Basically the thread for news, rumors, small transactions, etc.

For big trades, signings and hirings, they get a thread.

#Indians fans, In case you missed it yesterday, Francona's interview is Friday in Cleveland. Its his job to lose.

I really have a hard time believing Francona is going to settle for a team that appears to be far away from contending.

Hiring Tito would be a move in the right direction for Indians.

Unless Francona is taking a paycut, it's nothing but a smokescreen.

francona is good with veteran teams and smoothing big egos.

hard to see how he would fit in cleveland.

@Buster_ESPN: "Marlins are aggressively seeking a replacement for Ozzie Guillen. Will they wait to find someone before firing him? We'll see."

We have to wait til November 2 to see all the new changes in Houston incuding uniforms, logos, colors, and mascot. I guess my reddish Astros shirt will be awesomely retro next season?...

I don't think so

He wouldn't be perfect anywhere...is he going to take unwarranted shots at the Mets or Nats?

Yeah,no. Loria already tried to get him last offseason & things broke down. Marlins need stability, Bobby V is the last person to offer that.

Why on earth would any MLB team hire Bobby V at this point?

The Angels are going to decline Haren and Santana's options. I don't see them getting outbid for Greinke.

Bob Nightengale @BNightengale
The #Bluejays are not expected to stand in the way of the #redsox pursuit of John Farrell

So basically Toronto is telling Farrell ''GTFO''.

I think it's idiotic to let him go, but if they don't get something back for him, it's even more idiotic.
