I like that ABC -goalietrio.

My lineup guess:

Maroon-Holland-Palmieri
Etem-Elkins-DSP
Caputi-McMillan-Lasch
Mitchell-Wagner-Kennedy

Guenin-Lindholm
Hendry-Vatanen
Smaby-Clark

Andersson
Bobkov

Don't know why there are so many players signed. Anyone care to educate me?

About the lineup, if I remember correctly that 1st line was working pretty good so I wouldn't break it if it still works. Also the 2nd and 3rd line could be something like Etem-McMillan-Lasch which could be very speedy line. 3rd line of Caputi-Elkins-DSP wouldn't be fun to play against. Defence is probably not going to look anything like that now that Clark has been doing great in AHL. I would still like to see veterans Hendry and Guenin with Vatanen and Lindholm to look after them.

To have as many options as possible to make the strongest team I suppose. Anyone who doesn't make the cut goes to the E.

Maroon - Holland - Palmieri
DSP - Wagner - Etem
Caputi - McMillan - Lasch
Mitchell - Elkins - Kennedy

Clark - Vatanen
Guenin - Lindholm
Smaby - Hendry

Anderson
Bobkov

That's my lineup guess, Sexton could still factor in at one point.

Our D and goalie positions are rock solid IMO. Our forward corps has some talent but not as good as some others in the AHL.

It was reported that Sexton and JDD were not going to sign AHL only contracts, they're locked out with the rest of the NHL. I think it's a pretty good lineup on paper, not as good as the likes of Oklahoma who have Eberle, RNH and Schultz to name a few but it's up there.

Edit: Here is the link with quote from Sexton. If you check the rest of the PSCrunch twitter feed it should say something about JDD being in the same boat.

Former first rounder Kenndal McArdle signed tryout http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=10440

I wonder why. I thought we are stacked on left wing.

Looking at the camp roster after the addition on McArdle there are now 22 forwards on the roster. Any one have any idea how many forwards they'll keep in Norfolk and when do you think players will be released or sent to ECHL? Before or after the weekends scrimmages?

Now and Later

You are already seeing some teams sending down players to the ECHL. I would suspect that they will send down a few before the weekend. After the weekend and the preseason games that number will grow significantly. By next week they will probably want to have the roster firmed up with the possible exception of some bubble players.

Players with 2way contracts can be send to ECHL?

Anyway, check out Admirals FB page, there are pcs from the scrimmage. Finally Vatanen in North American jersey (no offense Finland, but i`ve been waiting for a long time for Vatanen to play in Ducks system).

Yes. Everyone on a two way is eligible to head to the ECHL.

This is the ultimate trickle down. I don't think we'll have any surprises, but with 22 forwards and 9 D men in Norfolk at least 10 bodies are going to be heading out, some to Fort Wayne and some just released from their try out contracts.

No worries. Maroon is going to get hurt if he stands in a way of Vatanen's shot .

Sexton

Does anyone know what the deal is with Sexton and why he wasn't assigned to Norfolk? Not sure I understand, was this his option not to sign an AHL contract or did the club not offer him an AHL spot?

The Ducks told him he wouldn't be getting an AHL contract. JDD is in the same boat.

Jay Rosehill signed to PTO

He has been with the Admirals before. Played when the team wasn't very good. Don't remember his play as a D-men other than he fought a lot. I see this as a depth signing to push players to compete for roster slots. May stick i don't know if his play has improved in the three years since being an Admiral.

During the 2007-08 and 2008-09 AHL seasons he had 23 and 33 fights most if not all as an Admiral. So, i think that would classify him as a fighter. Was traded at his request in 2009.

If you're a big fight fan you can check out his work at the hockey fights site.

This team has a bunch of bigger players that are known for physical play and fighting. I am more interested in whether or not they can play as a team and beat teams on the score board and not just with their fists.

As per their twitter, Norfolk made 6 cuts today:

Chris Auger – Forward
Andrew Conboy – Left Wing
Brandon Marino – Right Wing
Brett Perlini – Right Wing
Jean-Michel Rizk – Right Wing
Ryan Hegarty - Defenseman

Hegarty was assigned to the Fort Wayne Comets, the others were released from their tryouts.

Last time there was a lockout, I remember the Ducks' farm team played a couple of games at the Pond. Any chance they'll do the same thing again if the lockout lasts a while?
