Meh. Kinda disappointed, but if I desperately wanted to play I could've organized on before Mr. C came to Vancouver. Have fun though
lol. Next time you are in town, PM me I'd probably be fit to organize then when I actually have some decent coin. That said:
"Though Wilch, disappointed that his attempts to play ice hockey with other HF'ers in Vancouver are in vain, his contributions to the thread are not forgotten. Eager to play, he anxiously awaits his time to lace up the skates and step on Burnaby ice soon and is in decent enough shape to. We'll keep an eye on the situation, is he is signed in the Chinese League, but HF hopes to have him across the pond shortly."

alright canucker, these (plus a set of elbow pads i need to find in the garage) are yours if you just cover that 14 dollars that i would need to pay mr C.
fyi, the shin pads were 1.50 + tax, the skates were 10 dollars plus tax and they are size 9.
there was a nice set of skates that was 4 bucks but it was on the small end of the 8.5s so i didnt think you'd fit in them

if you know your hockey gear, there are lots of good deals to be had.
they don't really know how to price their hockey gear. so some stuff are really overpriced but others can be steals.
like, they listed a new itech 1400 mask for 250 dollars (haha), but next to it was a itech 961 mask by jerry wright for 75 (just cause its used). I snatched that 961 and resold it for 550 after online LOL
^Fun story - I got my first set of hockey gear at Cheapskates (including a set of cheap skates...heyo!). Probably 1991? Maybe 1992? Glad to hear it's still around!

Wowzers! You got it H4H, thanks a bunch! That's pretty awesome...there are some skates I can wedge into that are 8.5's but it highly uncomfortable. Those look better than my own skates I have back in Texas! I need to check that store out!

Yes to both, would be my bet. They had all kinds of stuff when I was young...granted, it's been a very, very long time since I've been there!
there used to be 4 stores back in the day... but they had to clear out of 3 of the stores cause the owners of the buildings sold the land to the government and the government decided to replace the building with some sort of mental health center

Yeah, I remember there being a bunch of them. They all had weird names, too, didn't they? Cheapskates 1, 2, 3, Bazaar, CheaperSkates...
Just went to the used place and got myself some gloves, elbow pads and a jock...my main concern now is really just having a helmet that fits...all the ones at the store were too small, not that I have a huge melon or anything...but it's not small.

its fine, my helmet will more than suffice.
to give you a sense of how big my head is, I couldn't get my head into any of the off the shelf masks in the local hockey shops, i had to get one custom made in order to fit me.
if my helmet can fit my giant melon in there you will be just fine in it haha

Sweet! Was worried I'd have to buy an old "Butch Goring" bucket.
