Myers to Sweden? Elite Prospects sourced this LINK as a doubtful rumor.

Written and video highlights of Vanek's press conference (in German) can be found HERE; [paraphrasing] joked that he's 28, father of three kids, making his own money, but is now back living with his parents; financing for his insurance past November 4 has been secured and he'll stay with the club should the lockout continue; next three home games have been sold out (left 300 to the box office for gameday), pressed 350 or so Vanek jerseys; and here's a graphic from the same Austrian site showing Vanek's upcoming games:

actually he didn't WANT #26 because somebody on the team is already wearing it. Just says a lot about his character. #20 is the number he wore in junior days playing in Graz. I think for him this is a trip down memory lane, kinda interesting I am sure.

I want one of those and go volunteer as a crossing guard... Perhaps to replace my hunting vest.

Yep. I thought it probably should have been a no goal but it was really close. He hasn't looked particularly great (still has to find his legs obviously) but his line as a whole has looked good.

I agree, but realistically this is his first game since april. In his little flash interview during a power break in period one he said he was very nervous kinda strange if you think about it.

jup corto, zargeb has a nice team don't see much of them but especially kyle greentree seems like a fine skill player

TV also had a bomb of a slapper hitting metal (from the left dot, hitting the right post)

game has become way better in the 2nd period, and the stream less choppy.

imho the vanek goal was above the crossbar. he was standing straight while reaching for the puck, so it must have been close to his shoulder.

unfortunately i didnt get tickets anymore ... well at least i can watch it online, because tv-coverage of hockey games is really bad in austria.

Down 1 with over 2 minutes to go and the goalie is pulled? Crazy Euros!

Apparently in this league you repeat your 3 shootout guys rather than go down the roster. Vanek's first attempt was pretty poor and his second was a great move that just went off the inside of the post. Let's see if he makes it to a third attempt.

Edit: nope, game over

no,

you simply set your first 3 as usual, and then you can send whoever you want, including those have already shot. there is no restriction.
so the coach could have sent out vanek to shoot everytime necessary.

Yea, I realized it must be something like that after I submitted. Thanks. I was expecting him to blast it on his first attempt. I'm not really sure what he was trying to do there, it looked like he was going 5 hole but he was at least half a second too slow if that's the case, so maybe he was trying to nudge it to the left past the goalie's torso.

so did i. i wondered why he went for the lazy looking move. yeh well, he is very tired. jetlag is terrible if you go east (at least for me, lol). i have less problems the other way round.

i expected him to slap it stickside.

and @vanekmania: vanek is the first and only austrian hockeyplayer to be named "austrian sportsman of the year" (earned in 2007). austrian sport is usually dominated by alpine skiing and nordic competitions as well as football (soccer, you call it ). there are probably more people watching his sabres games over the internet than attending or watching local hockey games on tv. so he is somewhat like a hero, like anze kopitar is for our slovenian neighbors. so you can imagine the party, if vanek can get his hands on the cup.
