And there is going to be plenty more regular season games to be canceled. Talks have broken down and not even court order mediation. I wonder if the NHLPA is going to have a decertify attempt?

I also hope that when the NHL resumes, the Kings home opener isn't vs the Coyotes.

I think it was pretty obvious this was coming the moment the NHLPA officially hired Donalrd Fehr.

When I got home tonight I saw I had gotten an email from my account rep today about this - for us this cancel thru the 24th is cancelling 3 home games (one on the 13th, another on the 18th, & one on the 20th).

I've sort of decided to largely ignore HFboards during the lockout for now, as I have football going on to distract me from the lack of NHL games, but come January, if the NHL isn't playing, I'm gonna be seriously jonesing for some pro hockey to watch. May even have to plan a trip up to Prescott Valley to check out the sunDogs...

It really is. Both sides are correct. League says two thirds of the teams in the league are in trouble because player salaries are too high. CORRECT. Players say two thirds of the teams in the league are in trouble because of an inadequate revenue sharing system. CORRECT. If either side had any interest in a healthy league BOTH sides would concede. Either solution proposed by either side equals only one half of an answer.

That would be great but if both sides were willing to agree to concede here then this would have been settled a very long time ago.

Coyotes have lost the first four games, right? That's 5% of the players pay next season, as is. They should be in a bigger hurry than they are. Winter Classic will represent, what, 40-45% of their pay wiped out? Ridiculous.

Technically they've only canceled the schedule, they haven't canceled the games--i.e. they could still try to fit the 82 game schedule into a compressed calendar.

Would that work in the NHL though? I mean, the NBA was doing 3 straight nights of games for teams last year.

http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey...th-salary-cap?

Quote:
Fehr spent a great deal of his time explaining why salary caps in the NFL, NBA and NHL are little more than poorly managed micro-economies while the revenue-sharing world of Major League Baseball — one he helped create — has led to labour peace, league profitability and rising values of franchises.
“Baseball has become stable, hockey has lost more games than the other sports combined,” said Fehr. “Baseball is growing rapidly and its franchise values are growing enormously rapidly. I don’t think the two are unrelated.”
By what I am reading in this article, I sure as hell don't like where this going. Could it be too that more and more of the players are becoming Anti-Salary Cap overtime?

Fehr is an idiot. The revenue sharing is being pocketed by the smaller teams. That needs to be adressed. If other teams are going to take in money from revenue sharing, they should atleast be spending the money on the field.

The baseball system is a joke. He takes way too much pride in creating a broken system in MLB. I mean hell, even the Yankees are spending less now than what they did because of the amount of money they had to give away.

I think this will be good for him. Mostly because I think he needs to get back into the swing of regularly playing games. Hopefully he'll be back to the form we saw him in the early season last year next time we actually have an NHL game

Bought a few tickets a couple of days ago and then I saw this today. Needless to say that brings up the level of excitement I have for the game. He's done wonders for their ticket sales. Doubled the price.

Congrats to Schlemko on his newborn as well.

I've bought tickets for a game on the 27th and booked a hotel for the night. Should be fun, just the man and me without the kids. We'll leave right after the girl's hockey lesson, dump the kids at grandma's, come back on Sunday just in time for me to go play a game.

Meh

If I go to an Arizona Sundogs game, it is to see the Arizona Sundogs play and not Schlemko play only.

Chipchura signs with Sun Dogs. Will join his Coyotes teammate in Prescott.

Hope they try using him in more of a scoring role. Everyone and their mom knows he can play a checking game.

Then maybe he can score a few more of those breakaway goals whenever the heck the NHL decides to start playing again

Awesome! One of my favorite Yotes! I'm most definitely going up to catch a game.
