As per Sport-Express.ru, Giroux had demanded Kovi, Ovi and Malkin's level of salary from "Avangard" Omsk and that's why they could not come to agreement.
Do we know when G and Danny will be in the lineup?
Next Friday vs. Cologne. Eisbären plays today and Sunday and then is off to Friday. That will be enough time for Giroux and Briere to settle in and get in a couple practices as well.

Obviously alittle early but any word on the lines? I saw you posted the lines Read would play on.

Makes sense. He didn't "really" want to go to Russia by all accounts so might as well see if you can get the big bucks and maybe that will sway you to go there.

Edit: He even looks in the net after he makes a save, just to make sure.
Rob Zepp is a terrible goalie. Even for DEL standards.
During the second intermission there will be a team official talking about Briere and Giroux (I guess the GM). I think no official statement has been released concerning the signing so far.
Any German speakers able to tell us anything about what they just said about G and Danny during the 2nd int?
As for the game, it's definitely good hockey. A bit more physical than I imagined actually (which isn't saying much) though I noticed that guys rarely finish their checks. I can't tell how fast they are - they look slow but I know the ice is bigger, so it's hard to say. Will be interesting to see how our guys do.

Nothing that we don't know already.
Giroux is on a level with Malkin and Crosby and allegedly scored 110points last season.
They showed a couple of clips and the "expert" said he believes Giroux would be better than anyone who played in Germany during the last lockout. Which would be correct because the most prolific guy coming over was Weight.
Unfortunately they didn't have an official from the Eisbären confirm anything but only Constantin Braun as an interview. He, obviously, couldn't confirm anything. But he knew G was third in scoring.

And maybe the German posters can help me out here.. Would Simmonds play Giroux and Briere at all if there's a long lockout?
No. They are in different leagues. Briere and Giroux will play in the top league -- the DEL -- with Eisbären Berlin. Simmonds team is one league down, in the Bundesliga.
Simmonds scored his first goal yesterday. Didn't help much as the defense broke down again in a 4-7 loss, with an opponent notching a 5 goal game. Some kid from the other team dropped the gloves with Simmonds, too. It didn't end well for him.

Even the rinks around here for public use have more seating
To be fair, they're building a new arena. Plus, they got promoted this summer due to a team in Allsvenskan not having good enough finances, so they kinda got promoted a year or two ahead of their plans. Gotta accept the challenge when presented though.
The capacity is roughly 2000 though, which still is very small, but decent enough for a team from Haparanda. Only 4500ish people living there. It's gorgeous up there, I lived 50 km's south of Haparanda for a year.
As you can see Haparanda is very, very far north and their nearest opponent is close to 1000 km's away. Obviously that's a lot of travel for a Swedish team, especially if you consider where the rest of the teams are located.

Matt Read had a secondary assist and a miss in the shootout in his debut. They lost 3-2.
