the announcer just gave the most awkward promo for the NY Giants, paraphrasing "Don't miss the New York football Giants at the new giants...met life stadium that's what they call it"
Megan back at the studio just told the pbp guy during commercial she accidentally deleted one of the shootout goals. I like the behind the scenes feel, hilarious.
AHL live is giving a great play by play of the announcers trying to figure out how to plug in audio cords, too.

maybe i'll pony up for this **** after all...entertainment value seems to be off the charts
He has always impressed me. I've seen him live 3 time when he was in Saginaw/Barrie and twice last year when the Amerks came to town. He is just such a cerebral player. I always felt completely at ease when he was on the ice. I really hope he gets his chance some day.
how would sabrefan27 know what the coaches are thinking? How does Mackenzie win the job of top 6 with just a couple of practices in? On a good note nice to see the team handle the more experience and talented Wilkes Barre Scranton team. Not allowing the odd man rushes like the previous game.Announcers commenting on how the puck movement was much better on the powerplay as well as coming out of the Amerks zone.

Because Kevin Oklobzija wrote that MacKenzie would be starting in the D&C on Friday. We'll see what actually happens. Finley, Brennan and McNabb will obviously play, Pysyk has impressed so far, so that leaves 2 open spots for MacKenzie, Crawford, and Biega. l think it's safe to assume Gauthier-Leduc wouldn't start even if he was healthy.

Seems like Biega is an unlikely cut. I think someone would have to really wow them to knock him out of a starting spot. Any chance Shiestel makes the opening night roster? It'd be a shame to not see him at least get a shot at it this year..He looked like he was on track to be a solid NHLer before the injuries.

Apparently you didn't actually look at the referenced post, because you would've seen the link to the D&C article by the Amerks beat writer.

I'd going to say there's almost no chance Schiestel makes it just because of the numbers game. Rolston has said they're going to keep 8 defensemen on the roster this year. Once again, Finley, Brennan, and McNabb are locks every night, Pysyk will be playing unless his game turns to garbage and then the 4 fighting it out will be Biega, Crawford, MacKenzie, and Schiestel.
I don't really agree with having MacKenzie play at the expense of what will probably be Schiestel and Crawford. Rolston said he wants someone stronger in his own end but I don't think his defensive play is that much better than those other two and he'll contribute absolutely nothing to the offense.
Wasn't Beiga sitting in the stands end of last season and Rolston was opting to play Grimshaw (the other defence man from Harvard). So Biega might not be a lock for sure.

Biega was suspended for Game 3. He had been in the lineup for the 19 games previous to that.

Ryan Grimshaw signed an ATO partly because of his familiarity with the staff, but mostly because a depth d-man was needed due to the injury/recall problems -- Persson, MacKenzie were hurt; Brennan, McNabb were with the Sabres. In the playoffs, Grimshaw was playing in place of an injured Morrisonn and when Morrisonn returned for game three, Biega had to serve a suspension, so Grimshaw remained in the lineup.

Thanks for the explanation.
On another note - I'm pulling for Schiestel to make the roster. But the reality might be that his injury is too much to overcome in the context of the depth that organization has at defense
