They do the same thing for the Jays discussion.
It would not be bad to have a Marlies prospect thread, and then we'll just merge the "I have a thought! I'll start another thread about Kadri again" threads into the Marlies thread.

Overall, we can reduce redundant threads by talking about the Marlies in the Marlies thread.

Unless there is an NHL playoffs, and the Leafs are in those playoffs, I doubt it.

The Marlies are way too stacked to have room for junior guys, especially up front, unless we are ravaged by injuries. Guys like Kenny Ryan, Devane, Will Acton, Brad Ross are all fighting for like 1 job, and no offence to Biggs, but I cant see him taking out one of those guys for a spot late in the season.

The only guys I could really see getting AHL games at year end are Percy and Finn, and thats just because we arent as stacked on D as we are on forward, and because the NHL would take away Gardiner, Holzer and maybe even Ranger

On the whole, this is the idea.

I'm not trying to stifle conversation, more so trying to keep like conversations together.

Why is Owuya not being used then? Isn't he more of a prospect than Scrivens?

My guess us that they know Scrivens is the starter and they want to give him some work to prepare for the season. Owuya and Rynnas are fighting for the backup and they want to give each of them half a game. This is Rynnas' turn. Just my guess.

Anyone know if there will be like online streams of the games put on my Leafs TV this year? Even if available at cost, I just need some hockey to watch.

So is Holzer, but he's playing for the Marlies.

I think it has to do with waiver eligibility.

Then why not leave Kadri in today? Eakins is going to (should) keep Kadri on the top line anyways. This would give him some work to prepare for the season.

Perhaps he needs to give ice time to the kids to see who can and will have the ability to play at this next level?

Kadri is on an NHL Entry Level contract, as is Colborne etc.

You are correct re: eligibility.

If there wasn't a lockout I doubt this situation would have arisen. However with such scenario people have started to talk about Marlies a lot more. I doubt we are going to make Marlies GDT for each game thats coming up this season.

Our Prospect threads are also being overblown by Marlies talk than just Prospect in Euro, or CHL or College. Hence I am trying to separate the two. If we really did get 60 posts for a pre-season Marlies game, and now with sportsnet starting to televise them soon with the lockout. I am pretty sure we will get a lot more viewers. I know I can't exactly buy tickets for Marlies in the front seat anymore due to the lockout either lol.

Is there a chance players like Carrick, Ross, or Crescenzi will be returned to junior for an overrage year, or if they don't make the Marlies are they definitely going to the ECHL?

Yes they are capable of returning to the juniors. However I think it's most likely for Ross, not the others.

Ross might go back to the WHL if this is the case. However the ECHL isn't a bad place for him either tbh.

Also note there is no roster limit so we can easily keep him, as Dallas has mentioned 5 lines 5 defense pairs. We can work with that if need be. Let's see what happens though.

Going back for the overage year could really stall his development. I was almost certain he'd crack the Marlies, but due to the lockout they're really deep now. Oh well I'll just have to hope he grabs that final spot.

I hope you're right about the roster limit haha. Leafs brass have to know that the ECHL is not a great place to put one of your better prospects.

Keep in mind Eakins said he may carry a 5th forward line. In that case I imagine, from that list, that Ross/Ryan/Abbot may hang around. I'm skeptical about Abbott though - I haven't heard a ton about him in a short camp and they likely want him in a primary scoring role (which he'll likely get at the ECHL level) - so his spot may better be suited by one of the grinders.

I'm not sure any of the players will return to junior based on how everyone finished last season. An argument could be made for Crescenzi, but even then I'd be surprised.
